This pleasant gentle girl is Amy. She is slowing coming along, exploring the surroundings beyond her safe haven spot. She understands when it is time to go out and quickly makes way to head outside. Aside from her timidness, she is a healthy 2-3 year old girl. Oh, and possibly pregnant. Went to the vet today and ultra-sound possibly showing signs, but definitely too early for anyone to tell. She is a beautiful looking girl with a shiny, healthy coat and has already showed signs of knowing how to do many things a puppy mill dog would not ordinarily understand. She is ahead of the puppy mill curve.

It is with heavy heart that I write this update on my sweet Gracie-girl (formerly known as Amy). This spring she had surgery for a growth in her left upper gum line. After two weeks the results came back an aggressive form of melanoma with suggested prognosis of 5 months and no real treatments to effectively control the reoccurrence of the tumor we removed for diagnostics. We were referred to a great vet who agreed to do her first laser after the growth became really huge and she did well after that but were told it would return aggressively even faster and it did in a couple of weeks. Life was no longer fun and she withdrew from the pack though always had a good appetite. After an episode of loosing her balance and dropping her hind end I made the decision it was time to allow her to run free with those who went before her. Gracie was my barker, chewer of every rug that came in her grasp as well as the toes/heels of my socks, and a few other sundry items that will not be mentioned (because mom should have known better). But despite her quirks she was the sweetest, most loving, best at forgiving, calm, patient golden I have known despite her puppy mill past. The house is quiet now and the girls know something is different. I can't help but know they know she is missing and are sober respecting my grieving, flowing tears at the drop of a hat, and pain in my heart. Gracie is the reason I now volunteer with RAGOM. She was a great teacher to myself and loved every golden that came and went from this house always greeting them with this infectious smile and rapidly wagging tail that often looked like it went around in a complete circle.

Gracie was one of the North Dakota puppy mill rescues in 07 (Amy 07-188) and I adopted her at the age of 3 1/2 and she made it to 8 1/2 for which I am grateful to have had the time that we did. But, most of all, I am grateful everyday that I associate with such a fantastic organization and group of the most loving giving volunteers I have had the opportunity to work with. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE GIFT OF GRACIE !!!

Hi everybody Amy here,

I am not pregnant and glad of that there has been enough of that in my life. I just want to find that special family that will love me just as much as my foster parent. So after finding out I was not pregnant what do you think happens next my foster parent takes me in to get spayed last. Wow what a emotional week but to be honest I handle it pretty well and I am so glad that's all over with ready to move on.Well amazingly during all that I also been venturing out of my crate a lot more, I surprise my foster last week when I reach way under the couch to get a tennis ball and I have done that 2 more times. Then I showed up in the hallway to the bedrooms one day and went in one of them the next day. I am not sure why but I feel more comfortable moving about. We went to the Vet today and I walked in like on own the place boy confidants can sure go a long ways. Yes I still have my moments where the path to my crate is all I care about and I won't go outside with out my foster taking me with the leash out of the house.  But in all I think I am making big strides toward building my self esteem to a great future with a family that is looking for an affectionate Teddy Bear like me.My foster tells me were going on a road trip this weekend to meet a family that is interested in adopting me. I could not be more excited this is all I ever wished for in my life was to join a nice caring family that would enjoy my companionship and love always. Well that being said I can not think of anything else to say so wish me luck I hope to be telling a story book ending with me snuggled up to my new family and home.

Hi Amy's foster parent here, well it was a busy week maybe a little to much for Amy. I took Wednesday off and we went to the groomer and got Amy all cleaned up. I was there with her every step of the way, actually helping out washing and drying sweet Amy. She has quite the look now, such a beautiful lady-like girl. I was glad to get her back home that day; she had enough and slept so good that night. Well, on Saturday we had a little get together in the yard with many local dogs and Amy was ok with it at first but started to hide out in the corners of the yard to get away from all the rest after awhile. I decided that was enough, and let Amy go back into the house where she made a B-line back to her crate. Well after that day Amy has decided she wants to eat in her crate and not with the other P.M. dog that she had been eating with in the kitchen. So we have taken some steps backwards but that was to be expected with the serious P.M. effects she is dealing with now. Amy had her checkup a week ago and was given a rabies shot and checked out negative on all general testing.  She is going back in for OH preventive maintenance in a couple weeks and to check on whether she is pregnant or not. The one thing Amy has done very well with is walking - she enjoys it, walks right to the right of you, does not pull, and has handled noises not scaring her. She likes to push her nose up at your right hand to get some attention on the walk as you walk along.  I let her know then how good of a girl she is as we walk.

Hi everybody, I am Amy! It has been a long week for me -  I just cannot believe what I have just been through. Had no idea where we all were going last week on that road trip - I was a nervous wreck. But I have to admit my foster parent is so much nicer then the other humans I've dealt with in my past. You want to talk about caring and understanding, that's my foster parent. I continue to be a very nervous Golden - the things I been through I just can't let go of yet. But what I am experiencing now with my foster parent is just short of amazing. I had no idea that my life situation could change so drastically for the good. I enjoy my foster parent's home and I am creating quite the bond with my foster parent. I will leave my crate so I can get some comforting by my foster parent on occasion. I also will leave my crate to eat and head outside for potty breaks and walks with another Golden, also from the puppy mill. My goal down the road is to be braver and start exploring my foster parent's home more and not hang out so much in my crate. Well, I was just on the move investigating what everybody was doing in the kitchen and I saw enough.  I'm hightailing it back to my crate now. I do want to thank Shirley P. for being my sponsor and the RAGOM organization. They are truly Golden to us Goldens and we do appreciate it!
