Hi RAGOM,

My name is Cori and I am the daughter of Gary and Jayne M., the adoptive parents of a beautiful RAGOM boy named Cimba. Our family adopted Cimba in 2001 when he was about 4 years old. I was pretty young then, roughly in junior high, so it is hard for me to remember his details prior to adoption. But I DO remember EXACTLY what it was like picking him up from his foster home and our many, many memories together as a family.

Cimba passed away in March of 2008 after a long and happy life with our family. I decided that we needed to let RAGOM Rainbow Bridge know about Cimba, even though it has been a while. He was the best dog a family could ask for, as most Goldens are.

When we adopted Cimba, he was shaved and had short hair, I think because his first family had developed allergies. The vet said he was a bit overweight, but otherwise happy and healthy. We immediately started walking with him twice a day and played lots of games of fetch in our 3 acre backyard out in the country. He was a big boy when we got him, over 100lbs! But he slimmed up to a healthy figure and was very beautiful as his reddish-gold coat grew out. We are a very active family and made sure Cimba was with us as much as possible. He came on all our camping road trips to northern MN and got to swim and play all over our beautiful state. He even swam in Lake Superior with us on one camping trip! Cimba would go on many walks and runs with my sisters and I as we trained for our various sports like soccer and track. My parents got up early every morning to make sure he got plenty of exercise. Cimba loved the sunshine and rolling in the grass; he loved to play out in the snow with us and always had a little jump in his step. Cimba was a happy and loving boy and an important part of our family. He was GREATLY LOVED. We still miss Cimba everyday, but find lots of comfort in knowing he lived a happy, healthy and long life.

I attached two pictures of Cimba. Isn't he beautiful? We all sure thought so :)

We are so glad organizations like RAGOM exist. Thank you for all you do.

Lots of love and best wishes,
Cori

Cimba came to us a pampered and loved family pet. His parents were very emotional when I drove away with him. He has had a hard time adjusting to life in our house. I think his adjustment period has taken longer because he misses his family - they had to give him up because their son has severe allergies.

Cimba is a 4 year old MELLOW Golden. I have never met a more MELLOW dog. He just loves to lay near me whatever I am doing. He never barks (even when my dog is trying to incite him), and he does not need to be on a leash when in the backyard or at the park. He comes running when he is called, and he does not go far away.

Cimba has a couple of small health problems in that he needs to take a tagamet before each meal, and his anal sacks need to be expressed every month or so. Neither of these problems is very hard to deal with. He could stand to lose a few pounds, and we are working on that now.

Cimba would thrive in a family with kids (he lets them lie on him while watching TV), and with someone who will spend hours playing fetch with him. He needs to have 2 tennis balls going at a time. He is potty trained, but did have a couple of accidents the first couple of days because he was so upset about his move.
