It has taken me a while to be able to write and let you know that Kelby 03-118, aka Bogey, passed away at the end of September. He had been diagnosed with an ulcer a month prior to that and we had been treating it with medication and diet. He was doing really well and then one day, he got lethargic and clearly felt awful. We took him to the emergency clinic where they did an endoscopy and decided to operate and repair the ulcer. Unfortunately, when they got in there they found the ulcer had perforated and he died on the table. While it was too soon, we are so grateful that we had Bogey in our lives. He was truly a gentle giant and the best dog we could have asked for. He was so lucky to have been raised and loved by a huge village, and he loved everyone, especially Louise, Tom, Jane, Dan and Maren. He loved running in the woods on the St. Croix, sailing on Lake Superior, and playing with all of his buddies at daycare.
While we can’t ever replace Bogey or fill the hole in our hearts, we hope to find another dog who will adopt us. Thank you RAGOM for rescuing a “labrahound” from that puppy mill in Missouri. A friend gave us a photo frame for Bogey’s picture that says, “Thanks for everything. I had a wonderful time.” Back at ya, buddy! |
