Sophie (Blaze 06-110)

Profile

4/14/06: What a nice dog! I picked up Blaze (or Madeline, as I'll explain later) Wednesday and she was a great traveler on the hour long car ride home.

She has easily settled in with our resident dog. They are close in age and love to play. Yesterday, she was "kid tested" with the neighbor kids and, of course, she loved them too and wanted to play with them also! She is really a people person, loves to be with us.

She loved being outside this afternoon while I was outside working in the yard. She was content on the rope for a LONG time and spent a lot of time relaxing on the cool garage floor. We did take a couple of breaks for a walk and for our "lessons". She does very well on with the gentle leader and with the sit command, and is increasing her time with the stay command. She is eager to please and would do well in an obedience class.

Blaze was a stray, taken to an Iowa shelter, fostered by an Iowa People for Pets family for 3 weeks who named her Blaze, and was then adopted by a couple who named her Madeline Blu Blaze and called Madeline. Unfortunately, they changed their mind about being able to have a dog at this time, so she came into RAGOM.

My second day assessment of Blaze is that she could fit into any family. It might be better if she had school age kids or older because she is young, exuberant and isn't bashful about jumping up, but we are working on this too! She really needs to have some consistency in her life and deserves a forever family.

It is with great sadness that we say farewell to Sophie today.  We brought her to the vet for a cough and weight loss. After blood tests and X-rays, it was determined that Sophie was bleeding internally and her lungs were filled with blood. After an evening of love from her family she was able to cross the rainbow bridge.

Thanks to RAGOM foe allowing her to be such a vital part of our family. She was a sweet and loving dog.

Sincerely, Beth F
