It was the Fall of 2006 and I wanted to get a companion dog that could come with me in all my travels as a small business owner. A fellow contractor told me about RAGOM, as he had adopted a dog from there. That night, my kids and I went to the website and saw all the dogs.
I filled out the paperwork to start the process and we kept looking. The night before our home visit, we saw this new dog, Hope, who had just been surrendered. I knew right then, she was the right dog for us. I mentioned Hope during our home visit and the woman put things in motion. A week later, Hope had joined our family!
I could not have found a better dog! She bonded with everyone and quickly became my faithful companion! Shortly after I got her, I was at customer's home and he saw Hope in my van. “I’ve got a fenced yard she can run in” he said, “feel free to let her play while we go inside”. I thought it was a great idea, she could get some exercise while we discussed business.
I put her in the fenced yard, latched the gate and went inside. About a half hour later, I opened the door to leave and there was Hope, sitting on the steps looking at the door, waiting for me to come out. She had jumped the fence and went right to the door to wait on her master! My heart melted at her devotion, that’s the kind of dog she was!
She went everywhere with me, we logged thousands of miles together over the years. She was outside with me doing chores, hiking, or an occasional hunt, always wanting to be by my side. She loved our kids and grandchildren too, she was always so gentle with them. Being in the fireplace business, she also fit right in! She just loved to watch and bask in the warmth of the fireplace and even taught little Jenni to enjoy it too!
Today has been a hard day, saying goodbye to such a great friend! I do thank God for giving me this pup, she was a Godsend during a difficult time in my life. She has taught me much of what it means to be faithful and worship our Master!
Thank you RAGOM for this beautiful gift!
