Miss Maggie is ready to enjoy the retired life. She is an eight-year-old purebred Golden girl, a retired breeding mamma who is looking to spend her best years yet soaking up all the affection she can find. This composed red beauty immediately stole our hearts. She was slower to offer hers, curious but hesitant to all the changes after almost 9 years of living the breeding lifestyle. As she comes out of her shell, we are so impressed by her trusting nature, curiosity, and affection. She gets along great with our resident pups, enjoys her crate, and walks nicely on a leash. She is being treated for an ear infection and intestinal parasites, and will be having two mammary tumors removed during her spay. As her playful side comes out, she shows us that she has a youthful resilience, and that at 8 years old, her life is just getting started! This sweet girl will continue to come out of her shell, so be sure to check for updates!!

Maggie waited so patiently for the perfect furever home. Today she found the perfect fit with her new mom and fur brother and sister. She is so excited to enjoy her huge fenced-in yard, explore a new lake and lay around with her new family. What a sweet fairytale RAGOM ending for Sweet Mags.

First off, Maggie wants to send a big “thank you” to the great people who contributed by being a sponsor!  She was so pleased to hear this news!

Maggie has been so busy lately and has had a lot of new and exciting experiences.  A couple have not been her favorite, such as thunderstorms and doggy ice cream (what?!).  Most things Maggie has enjoyed, and she has a new list of favorite activities she would like to share with you all.  First, if she previously thought that tossing around and rolling on a tennis ball in the snow was fun, it’s even better on the grass!  Maggie sees other dogs carry the ball in their mouth, but she much prefers to roll on it.  She thinks the other dogs would prefer it too if they would only try it!  Her next favorite new activity is playing in the water.  She is still a bit uncertain about actually swimming too far, but she loves to watch the other dogs swim and knows just how far she can walk in before she reaches swimming territory.  Finally, this list would not be complete without morning snuggles.  Maggie likes her solo time, but mornings are meant for snuggling.

As we roll into summer we are also enjoying boat rides (another favorite!), walks (doing well, but still some uncertainty) and car rides (starting to enjoy these more and more). Maggie is a treat to have around and is looking for the perfect home where someone can be patient with her as she continues to grow and can celebrate her success with her (Note from Maggie-as long as it’s not celebrating with ice cream, I much prefer biscuits).

Maggie has made huge strides over the last couple of weeks.  Her personality is really shining through and we are so excited to tell you more about this amazing girl.  First and foremost, she is so loving.  She will grab your heart from the moment you meet her!  She has plenty of spunk for a lady of a certain age (she just celebrated her ninth birthday with us but you would never guess that!!), yet is ready to snuggle right in when the time comes.  She is an all-around great dog.

Maggie continues to be so brave, especially when the three resident dogs lead the way.  She now enjoys spending time with the family, playing with tennis balls, cuddling, and loves exploring outside.  She does great walking on a leash, too!  These are all great accomplishments for a pup who has lived her whole life in a world without a whole lot of variety.  She continues to amaze us.

The vet had great things to say about Maggie, too!  Her spay went well and they also removed a mammary tumor, which was malignant but was completely removed so that was great to hear!  Maggie does well with going potty outside, but we have had a handful of accidents with this transition so we are being diligent about going out regularly and that has done the trick!

We did a child test with a ten year old recently and that went well.  Maggie has loved everyone she has met thus far!  She loves soaking up the attention and just when you think the petting is done, she gives your hand a gentle nudge to ask for a bit more.  She truly is a Golden.
