Profile

Welcome Susan to RAGOM! Susan is a beautiful, black, 11 week old Golden Doodle. She is one of the Missouri auction pups that were rescued, along with her mom and 6 littermates, this past weekend. This bundle of energy is named after our friend Susan at Evans Larson Communications. Evans Larson have been longtime, generous, RAGOM supporters and donors and do pro bono marketing work for us each year for our Goldzilla event.

Susan has been to the vet, she is microchipped and had her first set of puppy shots. She will be spayed on March 13th and after recovering will hopefully be ready to meet her forever family. It was discovered at her visit that she does have a small umbilical hernia, this will be repaired at her spay and should not cause any future problems. She is a little underweight at 13 pounds, but a quality diet and a set feeding schedule should get her right back on track. We've discovered that she loves air popped popcorn! I've also tried banana and green beans as a healthy snack….those she didn't love as much!

Susan is very much a typical puppy; play, play, play, nap, nap, nap. She is very sweet and is an expert snuggler. She is also an expert at giving the sad puppy eyes when she is told "no". As much as we try to keep everything picked up, she finds it. So far she's been busted with shoes, legos, a book and our rug in her mouth. It's easy to take these items away and replace with a chewy toy, but she is a puppy and is very curious and mouthy with everything! I do have two young boys and she has been wonderful with them.

Puppies are super cute but it's important to remember that she is a baby and will need lots of training to make her the best dog she can be. Golden Doodles are very smart dogs but she will need consistent direction and guidance on appropriate behaviors. I think she would do just fine as only dog but she is very playful and would enjoy the company of another dog. Susan is a beautiful, playful, intelligent puppy that will make a wonderful lifelong friend for a lucky family. If you are interested, please fill out an inquiry form under the adoption tab. Susan looks forward to meeting you!

Updates

I wanted to send a quick update about Susan (our “Susie”) who we adopted in March. She just turned a year old and has become a wonderful part of our family. She is about 65 pounds and the vet thinks she won’t get too much bigger. She loves dogs and children and playing with her best neighborhood dog friends, Betty (goldendoodle), Nika (lab mix) and Reya (golden mix).

Susie passed puppy socialization, Obedience 1 and leash walking through the Canine Coach in St. Paul. We continue to work on her training and manners, but she is really a great, loving girl. She adores long walks and playing in the snow. Here are some pictures of her - the first snuggling on mom, the second one sitting nice for a treat, the third after playing in the snow and the last with her “human brother.” We want to thank RAGOM for choosing us to love Susie and want you to know that she is well loved and taken care of :)
