Kyler has been a part of our family for about a year now, so I figured it is time for an update!

Kyler has grown into a handsome, muscular boy, weighing in at a healthy 60 pounds. He enjoys chewing sticks (that he loves to take from our piles after picking them up), going for walks, relaxing in one of his beds, playing fetch, and chasing squirrels in the yard.

This summer he especially loved going to our family cabin, running around the large property with the other dogs, and getting endless attention and hugs from his human cousins. Kyler adds so much joy, love, energy, positivity, kisses (and hair) to our home.

His main goal in life is to please his people, and he thinks ALL people are his people! He is so eager to please that sometimes he comes off as a little wild because he literally leaps back and forth as he tries to figure out what you want him to do. He loves his two year old brother and even listens when he tells him to come, sit, or lay down.

His foster family told us before adopting him that they didn’t think he had a mean bone in his body-they couldn’t have been more right! We are so thankful for our special boy and can’t imagine life without him! Kyler will be a big brother to a human baby sister at the end of December and we have no doubts that he will be as a gentle as can be, and will smother her with kisses.

Christmas came early for our sweet little Kyler. He met his forever family, where he has a little boy to grow up with & call his own, plus a Mom & Dad who adore him. We wish him the best of luck in his new home. We miss you Little Bean!

Omg,  it has been way too long since Foster Mom has sent in an update on me. I guess since she’s been a slacker I will have to do it myself. So here goes....

I got to go to Goldzilla in September & made tons of new friends. I even saw one of my sisters there, but I kinda snubbed her cuz I was busy getting a spa treatment. I did really good with the nail trimming & the ear cleaning wasn’t a big deal either. I even got to walk in a parade. I was a big star & got to give lots of kisses that day. It was definitely a day to remember!

Life at my foster home is really good. Foster Mom let me eat as many raspberries as I wanted this fall...which was a lot! I’m getting kinda pudgy & am up to almost  50 lbs....Daddy says that's fighting weight for me. I’m not sure what he means by that cuz I never fight with anyone. Mom says I don’t have a mean bone in my body. I love everyone, even the lousy cats that live here (they like to steal my dog bed, don’t they know they call it a dog bed for a reason?).

Foster Mom says I’m really, really smart. I am good about coming when I’m called, I run right into my kennel when I see the food bowls come out, plus I’m always the first one with their butt on the floor when someone says it’s time to sit. I probably could teach a few of these old dogs that live here a few new tricks, but I know my place & really listen to them when they tell me enough is enough. I’m 100% potty trained now & haven’t had an accident in ages. I am quite the ladies' man tho & like to sneak kisses in whenever I can. There’s nothing better than snuggling up to my favorite people, although hot dogs are pretty high on the list, too.

I absolutely love to play with my fur siblings. Oh man, you should have seen it when I got to play outside the other day when it snowed. I didn’t know what that white stuff was & at first I slid right off the porch, but I got used to it right away. Maybe someday I’ll learn to throw snowballs instead of just eating them. I’m not sure which is more fun, playing in the leaf piles or the snow. Hmmm, which would you choose?

Our sweet little Kyler is getting so big. I can't believe how the time flies. And he is doing absolutely fantastic.

After the incident with foster dad accidentally stepping on Kyler, & then ending up needing surgery because of where the break was & how difficult it was to keep a cast on, Kyler is on the road to recovery & is ready to start looking for a home to call his own. Kyler ended up with having an external fixator placed on his leg in order to assure nice alignment with faster & more certain healing. Two weeks later when I was concerned he may have been developing a pin site infection, the vet decided to take an X-ray first. Luckily the break was completely healed & Kyler had the fixator removed that evening without an issues. Since then, the pin sites have healed completely & his fur is starting to grow back & he's off all restrictions. He is loving running around the yard with the big dogs playing fetch...& he's one fast little dude. According to the vet, the break & subsequent surgery will just be a little blip in his history & he shouldn't have any long term issues with that leg. And at this point I think Kyler would consider it all a bad dream.

I'm not sure where it came from but Kyler has earned himself a couple nicknames...the most prevalent are Little Man & Little Bean. We have a huge raspberry patch in our yard & they are starting to become ripe. The first few times I offered Little Bean the berries he turned his nose up & looked at me like I was crazy. After seeing the other dogs eating the berries right off the bushes he has decided it's kinda fun to pick his own. But hey, the more he picks the less I have to pick so it's a win win!

Kyler has been continuing to work on his potty training. Some days just when I'm about to swear that he's got it all figured out he will have several accidents. More often that not though it will be my fault for not remembering that he needs to go out more frequently than the big dogs do. He will sleep in his kennel all night without a peep & is doing great when he gets free roam during the day.  He is best buddies with our other foster dog Cammie 17-085TD.  They absolutely love to play, play, play together. While I don't think it's mandatory for Kyler to have another dog in his furever home, I know he would certainly appreciate a playmate.

At our last vet visit Kyler weighed in at 26 pounds but that was with the 2 pounds of metal still attached to his leg. He may be a pound or 2 more by now but the vet feels that he won't be but maybe 45 pounds max when he's fullly grown based on X-rays...I guess that's kind of a scientific guess. That being said, Kyler is one big love bug. He absolutely loves to snuggle. And he gives the best kisses ever, & lots of them!!

If you think Kyler would be a good fit in your home, please submit an "Inquiry for Application" form. If you have already filled out an "Inquiry for Application" form, please send an email to applicationatragom [dot] org with the dog's name, RAGOM number, the name you submitted the Inquiry for Application form under and a sentence or two why you feel you'd be a good match.

Kyler is a beautiful little Golden mix that came to us from a bad situation. He was rescued with his siblings from a Reservation in North Dakota where he was living outside. He came to us covered in ticks but has since blossomed into a sweet little puppy.

Kyler is being fostered with his sister Kayla 17-134. Together they make quite the little bundle of mischief. They have the typical puppy energy of play, play, play, eat, poop, sleep, look cute, get into trouble & repeat. They are loving hanging out with our 4 Goldens & our other foster, Cammie 17-085TD. They are also getting along great with our 3 cats.

Kyler was at the vet recently and weighed in at 19 pounds. Unfortunately he also had round worms so was treated for that but is otherwise very healthy. He started on his puppy shots & was a really brave boy when his microchip was placed. He has since received one more dose of de-wormer but will still need to be neutered before he goes to his fur ever home.  Nobody knows what he is mixed with but looking at his sister the vet felt like she is Golden & Husky mix but Kyler has much shorter & finer fur & doesn't have the curly tail that she does. So who knows. Either way, he's just a little cutie pie. He is normally the more adventurous of the 2 puppies, being the first to try new things & say hi to everyone he meets. He is also the one who likes to snuggle more & will cuddle with you for as long as you are willing.

Kyler is kennel trained & sleeps most of the night in his  kennel. He is working very hard on potty training but it's still a work in progress. He knows his name & has learned to sit nicely for treats. Please be advised though that he is a puppy & has a ways to go in learning good doggy manners, such as walking nicely on a leash & knowing that human toes aren't for munching on.

Unfortunately though, our house is over capacity for animals. We currently have 4 cats, 5 adults dogs and 2 puppies so things can be very chaotic. A few days ago my husband had all the dogs outside to play & they all came inside at the same time. My husband tripped & as he was trying not to fall backwards he accidentally stepped on Kyler. Off to the vet we went since Kyler wouldn't put his back leg down & was in pain. X-rays revealed that he has a proximal tibia fracture so now he is sporting a nice splint. If there is anything that is good about this, it is that the break did not affect Kyler's growth plate nor did it go into the joint & overall was a very clean break. The bad thing is that the location is difficult to splint because it needs to be tight enough to stay in place but not too tight to cut off circulation. After having follow up X-rays done today it was determined that Kyler will have surgery on his leg tomorrow. By doing so it will allow for faster healing, a better fix & a stronger bone in the long run. Please wish him well & be rest assured that he will get as many snuggles as a little boy can tolerate!

Awww, I asked for a blue splint!!
