I would like you to meet a beautiful girl named Raya. Raya was lovingly surrendered to RAGOM by a busy single mother. She is a gorgeous girl!
This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Raya is a playful, energetic and beautiful light colored Golden Retriever that is just 14 months old.  She is spayed, heartworm negative and in excellent health except for her weight.  She is up to date on all vaccinations until July of 2017.
Raya was lovingly surrendered to RAGOM by a family that felt they could no longer provide the attention and time that she needed.
She is a very playful girl and requires exercise.  She is currently overweight by approximately seven pounds so daily walks and playtime are necessary for her.Raya17138c1.jpg
She gets along with other dogs very well and has no behavioral issues.  She is house trained, crate trained and wants to be very near to you.  She has no anxieties and she was not concerned with the storms that were happening here the past week.Raya loves swimming and enjoys our walks at the lake very much.  She definitely needs training and guidance with a Gentle Leader or a harness on our walks as she will pull and bite on a leash.
She needs encouragement and proper obedience training in her future home.  We are currently working on sit, come and stay commands.
If you think Raya would be a good fit in your home, please submit an "Inquiry for Application" form. If you have already filled out an "Inquiry for Application" form, please send an email to applicationatragom [dot] org with the dog's name, RAGOM number, the name you submitted the Inquiry for Application form under and a sentence or two why you feel you'd be a good match.

Raya has found a loving home with an 8 year girl that will be her best friend.  She will have a large fenced yard to play in, will be living near a couple of lakes and will enjoy swimming often.  She will be taking plenty of walks too.  Congratulations to the A family!

Raya has discovered that she loves swimming, so we have been going for walks by the lake nearby often so everyone can cool off in the lake.
We have also been busy working on training.  Raya is doing very well with sit and down commands.  We are also working on stay commands, but that is still a work in progress.  She will need continued training and structure in her adoptive home.
She is enjoying our daily 30-40 minute walks immensely.  We have taken the time to train her more with a Gentle Leader and she is doing very well walking with either a harness or a Gentle Leader at this time.  If you mention the word walk, she gets excited and is ready to head out the door!
Raya sleeps through the night without a sound.  She either sleeps in her kennel with the door open or she sleeps on the floor.  She has never had an accident in my home.
We discovered Raya does not have any issues with fireworks at all.
Raya is a very sweet dog.  She will be a wonderful companion for whomever is lucky enough to adopt her.

Raya has had a busy week.

We ventured out to PetSmart to see how Raya would do with strangers and we learned that she loves to greet everyone she meets with a wagging tail. She did bark at an elderly man with a cane, but once he put his cane in his vehicle, she was his best friend.

We also visited the vet's office for a weigh-in and learned that she has lost 1.6 pounds in just 3 short weeks. She enjoys a little dollop of pumpkin on top of her dry kibble. Running around the yard with other dogs and getting plenty of exercise is so much fun!

We are still working on walking nicely on a leash. Raya appears to prefer using a harness instead of a Gentle Leader, so we are currently using a harness. She is pulling less on our walks, but she still needs consistent training to stop pulling on the leash on walks.

Raya loves to lay at your feet at the end of the night and relax. She is a very happy and loving girl!
