Sadie is a super sweet 6-8 year old dog that came to RAGOM via a kind Good Samaritan who rescued her from a less than ideal situation. She does jump on people, can be growly with other dogs (but can co-exist peacefully once she is confident with them), has a high prey drive and will need a fence. She loves people and craves attention from them. She appreciates any kindness she gets from her humans and you can tell that she will be a devoted companion to anyone who is lucky enough to adopt her.
This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

I would like to introduce you to the lovely "Sweet Sadie" or "Peanut" as we lovingly refer to her.  Sadie came into RAGOMland through a Good Samaritan who rescued Sadie from a less than optimal situation.  We thank the GS for this little sweetie!
Sweet Sadie was thought to be 13-15 by the original owner, the GS thought maybe 10, but on surrender it was clear that she was younger than expected.  The vet thinks she may be 6 - 8.  She is a perky little girl whose tail never stops wagging, I should say her 1/2 tail never stops wagging.  We are not sure how she lost part of her tail, but it is too cute for words and we refer to it as her "deer tail".  Sadie also has broken front bottom teeth, but they don't seem to bother her. Her appetite is voracious and she eats just fine with no apparently pain. We'll have the vet check them out on our next vet visit.
On surrender she was taken to the vet and is now being treated for a chronic ear infection, chronic UTI, some skin issues that are most likely allergies (may just be a poor diet over the years).  She has been microchipped, tested for HW (negative) and will see the vet tomorrow for her general exam, vaccinations and recheck on her other issues.  She will be spayed in the very near future.  She is currently 47 lbs and just a little thing.
Sadie will need a physical fence due to her wandering ways.  She came into rescue because she wandered and I have no doubt that if left unattended she will wander again.
She hasn't been kid tested, but did live with several children in her GS home.  I will see how she does with my 4 and 8 year old grandsons, but my best bet right now is that she will do fine with kids over the age of 12 who can handle her excitement when you come home...just means she can't contain herself and jumps on you.  It is a work in progress, but I doubt she will ever really get over it.
I believe she can live with other dogs that give her space.  The 1st few minutes in our home were a bit tense as she and our Jake got to know each other, but once they took a nice long walk they have been fine ever since.  I think a super playful dog would not be a good fit for her, but a laid back dog would be fine. She is not cat tested, but I don't think she would do well as she does have a relatively high prey drive on walks.
Her energy level is medium.  She loves her walks and could walk for hours, but she also likes to chill out when she is around the house.
Sadie's disposition is beyond sweet.  Honestly, I believe she has lived in a home with people who truly cared for her at some point in her life because she does understand the comfort of a home (she only gets on the couch or bed when we are gone :))  She is a bit hand shy, but she craves attention from people and has that clear appreciation of any kindness she is given.
More soon as we get more information from the vet in the next day or so.

Sadie has been a welcome addition to our home. She is so sweet and affectionate. She gives our other dog - a medium sized hound dog - a run for his money. They have bonded over playing and are a pleasure to watch. She is no trouble and seems happy here. I know she had a rough life before this, we are doing our best to make it up to her. Here is Sadie sitting for a treat.

Sadie says hi to all her RAGOMland fans!
She was spayed last Monday and has recovered completely from that.  They did remove a mass from the back of her leg that was cancerous, but got clean margins so the vet is not worried about that causing any trouble down the road.  Her UTI and ear infection are completely cleared up and her allergies are under control with Apoquel.  She eats Fromm dog food and seems to just love it.  After a bit of time we will see if maybe just the food was the issue with her itchiness, but right now she is doing so well on the Apoquel that I hate to try to wean her off.
Sadie is still the absolute sweetest little thing out there.  She and our Jake get along great and we've had zero incidents of snarkiness since the 1st night.  Over this weekend I was asked to let the neighbor dog out while the family was gone for a couple days.  FM, being FM, can't stand the idea of someone leaving their dog home alone for a weekend, so somehow Boscoe ended up here for the weekend.  After some initial snarkiness, Boscoe and Sadie are doing fine.  Big brave Roscoe is scared of itty bitty little Sadie. 😊  We are still trying to figure out what the right introduction is for her, but so far the 2 that she has met are all coexisting peacefully.  At one point yesterday as foster mom was sitting at her computer doing some RAGOM stuff I looked down and there lay Boscoe on the left side of my feet and Sadie on the right side.  I must admit Sadie was looking at me like "ummm, lady, is that going to be okay"...pretty soon they were both sound asleep at my feet in a very small, confined space!
If you are looking for a super sweet, small sized velcro Golden mix that adores any human kindness, Sadie may be for you.  Let us know if you are interested by submitting an "Inquiry for Application" form. If you have already filled out an "Inquiry for Application" form, please send an email to applicationatragom [dot] org with the dog's name, RAGOM number, the name you submitted the Inquiry for Application form under and a sentence or two why you feel you'd be a good match.
I'll post more in the next few days, as I have family coming and she will get to meet the grandkids this weekend.  Have a Great 4th of July!🎇
