Our home tonight is very quiet, I have no Polly and Laz-boy pictures and cuddles or listening to Polly snoring in my arms, we really do miss you. This update will be my last for Polly, as she was adopted today and as the foster mom I couldn't be happier for her, Polly has hit the jackpot with her new mom and dad.
Polly's mom and dad loved her even before they actually met her, now that is love!
Lots of driving from both parties, more on the end of the adoptive parents. We all met in Rochester at a Ragom foster home, thank you Janet F, hubby and your pups for your hospitality and knowledge.
I send all my love to Polly and her new parents.

Polly had a new adventure with the American Thanksgiving holiday. She spent 3 days and two nights at her foster sitter. She approves of this holiday as she found out you get a little turkey added in with your regular kibble.
It also let us observe her with a change in the normal routine. She showed that she is pretty adaptable. She met her temporary foster brother Mack again with no issues...She was a keen observer of all the activity in the kitchen on Thanksgiving day and was very well behaved. An unfinished home improvement project put many items on her level and she was great. She got into nothing inappropriate. Her enjoyment of being able to chew on a bone was interrupted by Mack as he would be a less than stellar host at first and steal the bone away from her...She tolerated that but the chew toys got put in storage temporarily.
Slept up on foster Dad's bed along with Mack both nights. She was a little bit of an early riser on black Friday. But adapted to wait on foster Dad's cue to start the day on Saturday. No housebreaking issues at all and was just let out on a schedule...Had a nice walk with Mack and enjoyed getting out and about...Mack did pester her on a consistent basis in the back yard to rough house...She did pass on engaging the big lummox and managed him very well...
Saturday she was surprised by a little spa treatment and got a bath. Temp foster Dad reports she was his most well behaved customer ever...She also got high marks for being a good car rider. All and all a fun little get away for her and she was able to showcase her adaptability.

Well it's been a few weeks since an update has been done on Polly and I as foster mom will take the blame on this. But we have had many issues going on in this home, 1) main sewer line backed up, 2) flooded the lower level of my home, 3) come to find out main sewer line had a break about 25 feet out in my front yard, just lots of issues going on. Sewer line is finally fixed, home owners insurance is dealing with lower level repair.
Polly has been the best golden retriever with all the foot traffic coming in and out of this home while under repair. The repairmen have all loved Polly and her amazing blond coloring, they don't believe that she is actually a golden retriever, but her feathering is the giveaway. All she wants is pets and the workmen are more than happy to accommodate, as they will be around on and off for the next few months as repairs continue.
She has settled into this home life of a loving golden retriever with a foster sister, they both enjoy roaming the backyard together, barking at the same things (Polly really isn't much of a barker, only on rare occasions, like other dogs). If someone comes to the door she doesn't bark.
Took Polly to meet her babysitter and his resident dog Mack this weekend, as this is the first time she has met another dog and I was wondering what she would do. Dog introductions are very important and Mack and Polly did great. She will be staying with them in December for about 11 days.
If you are looking for a wonderful loving golden retriever, Polly maybe your girl. Contact your placement coordinator to inquire about her.

Polly here I'm writing my own update, as FM is back on OT with her day job! I miss my FM she is really the best, she loves me, feeds me good things, plays with me & my FS RD Ali.
Life in this house is wonderful, I have settled down completely from my long flight over the big pond (whatever that means), no more jet lag!
I've started sleeping with my FM in bed, you have no idea what it's like to cuddle with FM in her warm soft bed at night. I even let FM have some of the bed too. Still chasing squirrels & rabbits every chance that I get, but they always seem to get out of the yard thru the fence. My name recall is excellent, I have improved, FM is so very proud of me. The only thing FM would like for me is a fenced yard to be able to run in. FM has discovered that I love bananas, so she cuts up half a banana every morning in my food bowl....yummm!
I have learned to chew on "nylabones" there not too bad, as I chew up the Elk antlers in this house too fast but I love them. I still have a very tender mouth for feeding food items to me by hand, I'm being a very good girl. FM just loves me to the end of the earth, but I just don't like that darn cat in the house.
FM is going to send pictures of me later today when she gets home tonight. If you would like to adopt me please speak to your placement coord.

Pollyanna has come along way since she has arrived at her foster home. She has been working on sitting, staying, her food aggression and come comment and doing very good. Polly is settling into her life of a true GR in America, she is still very much a love bug, still chasing the birds, squirrels & rabbits. Polly sleeps thru the night, she gets up at whatever time you do she gets the zoomies in the backyard, tries to play with RD Ali (11 yrs old) but she wants nothing to do with Polly. She is also still shredding lots of hair, she is brushed everyday and it's not helping too much. I question if changing her diet is part of the issue, as new hair growth is coming in?
She loves her elk antlers, we started with one of the antlers at 18" long and she now has it down to about 8" and the 10" antlers are down to about 6". I have removed all antlers for the time being and need to order more ASAP. My RD Ali chews on them too but not like Polly does. We have nylabones but she wants nothing to do with these.
When Polly is outside she prances in the yard, picking her feet up high, she has a beautiful gait as she runs & walks. Sometimes as she runs in the yard she sounds like a herd of buffalo, it really is very funny.
I wish I could get her to an event this weekend but we have family coming in from out of town, maybe in the next week or two we can get out to the public.
Take care everyone, we'll see you soon!

Pollyanna came from Turkey last Saturday, very tired and just a little snarky (I'm thinking more just tired), Pollyanna is 2.5 years old. She has been vetted, other than her ears going south with the normal bacterial infection and very long toe nails. She is in great health and weighing in at 51 lbs! Her bottom front teeth some are missing or very ground down to the point they may need to be pulled at some point. Everyone at the vet just fell in love with her.
What I have figured out about Polly (this is what we call her), she is a complete love, she is almost a keeper! Other than the fact that she doesn't like our cat, she has a very high prey drive, she chases rabbits, squirrels, & birds. So I would recommend no cats in her new home.
It has taken about 3 days for Polly to earn more and more free roam within this house and yard. The first 2 days at night she was in the bedroom with me at night, in a kennel while I was at work; well this came to an end real fast Polly is completely potty trained no accidents at all. She will let you know when she needs to go outside, she does her business and usually comes right back to me. On occasion she will check out the yard, but her name recall is very good. Polly is becoming a very much velcro dog to me, she knows the nose/arm bump very well. Polly will have complete free roam starting tomorrow, so we will see how this goes, but I expect nothing to happen.
While here she has discovered elk antlers and she loves them. She loves to play ball in the backyard, she will chase the ball but not bring it back to you, Polly is so funny. Yesterday for the first time she rolled in the grass, it must of felt great, as she did it again.
More to come on Polly and her new adventures in the United States.
