Finnigan 18-019

Profile

BONDED PAIR: Please refer to both Chloe 18-020 and Finnigan 18-019 profiles. Chloe and Finnigan came into foster care after many great years shared with their surrendering owner. As difficult as it was, their owner knew he could not continue to provide the life they deserved. Both dogs are friendly, goofy, and love to compete for attention. Chloe and Finnigan absolutely love walks and exploring. Both dogs are completely house broken and do not counter surf. A home with older children who are experienced with dogs is preferable for this pair. Chloe and Finnigan are like Velcro: whether they’re snuggled up on the couch or walking side-by-side, they’re a bonded pair and need to remain together. They would love to join an active family that spends a lot of time outdoors and doesn’t mind getting deep in the dirt or snow. Chloe and Finnigan are very special and deserve a Golden life!

Finnigan and his sister Chloe found their forever home and are officially Iowans. Finnigan's family made the five hour trek to meet him and fell in love with his big smile and enthusiastic personality. Finnigan now has a large yard where he can run wild and free and chase all the squirrels he wants.

His new family promises to work hard on his inappropriate walking tendencies and make him the best walker he can be. Finnigan's new family spoils all their dogs with healthy food and fancy Orvis dog beds and has an excellent, longstanding relationship with their vet team.

As your foster parents, we thank you for sharing your cuddles and hugs. Your love for human contact will be greatly missed. Your silly, exuberant personality made us smile everyday. We wish you the most wonderful life Finn! Be sure to take good care of your sister Chloe!

Finnigan (Finn) has had an exciting month, he celebrated another birthday, officially 6 years old, and he finished his two week parasite treatment. YAY!! Not many dogs would tolerate powder medication while on a diet, what a trooper! We plan to re-weigh Finn in the coming week, our guess is he's down about 5-8 lbs, he's getting closer to his ideal weight & looking great. He'll be ready for beach weather for sure!

Finn is also getting better at containing his excitement pre walks and pulling less while touring the neighborhood. Finn seems to be quite protective of his sister Chloe, he has to be the first to greet another dog and if a barking war starts, he's all in. Finn has met several neighbor dogs while on walks and does great with interactions. Finn also behaved himself with foster dad's family dog Bear, even despite Bear's many attempts to initate play while on our walk.

Regardless of the warming weather, Finn continues to find every patch of snow to bury his face in, roll, or scratch his back against... this is quite comical as foster mom is closely attached with a waist leash. ;)

Some of our favorite Finn traits...

Finn loves human contact and is the best snuggler for movie nights. Finn will gladly give kisses anytime of the day. Finn's tendency to pant even when the word "walk" is mentioned, continues to make us giggle. Seeing Finn's ears perk straight up with the sight of a squirrel is the cutest thing ever! Finn also has the hardest time seeing us go off to work, which reminds us how much he truly loves his humans. What a softy!

Finnigan will do nothing but love you and make you giggle. Consider adopting him and his sweet sister Chloe (18-020)!

After a weekend trip to the north shore, we learned that Finnigan (aka Finn) would prefer to ride shotgun in any car, but does respect when told to sit back. Finn pants with most activities, but this is just one of his quirks as he cannot contain his excitement for adventure. Finn absolutely loves to hike and run in the woods. Finn's forever owner would benefit from a waist leash to continue to work on Finn's pulling tendencies as he's quite strong.

One of Finn's favorite pastimes is to bury his face in the snow and itch his back against snowy/icy mounds. Finn is also very observant. He tends to spot any bird, chipmunk or squirrel in his vicinity. He's quite the explorer! Finn also did great in a dog friendly hotel and was very intrigued by the elevator. Finn looks forward to many more adventures around Minnesota. Please consider adopting him and his sister Chloe 18-020 into your home!

A few words from Finn: “The snow was great! It was still deep enough to submerge my face and wiggle my back all over it; best way to cool myself down along the hike. The chipmunks were especially fun to watch for, as they'd jump right out in front of me along the trail. I was so much closer to getting one than the city squirrels."

Finnigan 18-019

Chloe (18-020) and Finnigan came into foster care after many great years shared with their surrendering owner. As difficult as it was, their owner knew he could not continue to provide the life they deserved. Therefore, Chloe (age 9 ¾) and Finnigan (age 6) were warmly welcomed into RAGOM's care and arrived to our Minneapolis home in late February.

Both dogs were friendly from the beginning, but Chloe was a bit more reserved than Finnigan. Being younger, Finnigan’s manners were much less mature and kisses to the face were in order. After introducing the dogs to our home we embarked on our first walk together; both dogs were ecstatic to see the sight of leashes and puppy immaturity took them over. After detangling leashes we were on our way, their excitement and curiosity filled our hearts.

Since these initial moments we’ve shared many giggles, snuggles, and adventures through the city with the duo. Chloe and Finnigan love walks and have gradually increased their distance. Both dogs could use some training to reduce their rambunctious habits on walks and limit pulling. However, both dogs have made improvements and do best when walked with two humans. The snow and ice have made it more difficult to assess these two properly.

Both pups are house trained and have free range of our home. The surrendering owner did not crate them, nor have we. Neither has had any accidents and tolerate our 8-9 hour work schedule. If not monitored one of them may sneak a few nibbles of the other’s food, but there has been no issues with feedings.

After their visit to the vet, both dogs are up-to-date on all vaccinations, but unfortunately have a common parasite called whipworm, which is easily treated with monthly Interceptor (heartworm treatment) and then retested in 3 months. Finnigan, the escape artist, found himself a unique parasite called Alariasis, which will also be treated. In summary, Finnigan is well, but needs to lose some weight, which we are actively working on with a diet and increased activity.

Chloe and Finnigan are like velcro: whether it's snuggled on the couch or walking side-by-side, they’re a bonded pair. Therefore, they need to remain together. Both dogs have lived with several cats and respect children. It would be recommended they be in a house with older children (10+) due to their intermittent exuberant personalities and jumping tendencies.

They would love to join an active couple or family that spends a lot of time outdoors and doesn’t mind getting deep in the dirt or snow. Chloe and Finnigan are very special and deserve a golden life!
