Izzy has been adopted by a wonderful couple. She is having a great time with a year-old fur sister who will teach her so much.
Izzy has a fantastic set of parents who will love her wiggle butt and her happy smile all day long.
Congratulations to the K and S family!

Sweet Izzy has completed her spay and dental work. She required one canine (upper left) and two broken teeth removed. Her spay incision is healed, and she is now eating her kibble dry.
Izzy is a lover and readily seeks pets from her humans. She does need supervision as she has had accidents. She is not a fan of being outside by herself, but will go right out if her human is alongside her. Izzy sleeps at night in her kennel without a peep.
Izzy got to go on a home visit and, although slightly fearful in the beginning, she did very well with the two adults and two neighborhood children that were just visiting.
Izzy is progressing as I would expect and she shows lots of interest in her surrounding. Like any dog, lots of curiosity will be the way she learns to acclimate to the world different from her breeding environment.
Izzy's adoptive home will need to continue to encourage her exploration of her surroundings and allow her time to adjust as new challenges enter her life.

Welcome Izzy! Izzy is a 5-year-old dark-coated Golden Retriever. She has been vetted and brought up to date with all her vaccinations. Izzy will be spayed and given some dental work on the April 11. She is downright beautiful and has the softest fur.
Izzy's personality is very happy. Though she can be timid of hand gestures and loud sounds, she tries to be brave about living in a house. Izzy is not crazy about stairs, but is very good about coming and going in and out of doors and often perform tasks dreaded by most breeder dogs.
She has her own kennel where she sleeps at night with the door closed. During the day, the door is open, and she comes and goes as she pleases. Izzy also eats in her kennel, giving her a routine she accepts as normal and provides her with her own personal space from the resident dogs.
Izzy is comfortable with the dogs in our home, which consists of another foster, residents Bridget (a Golden), Finnegan (small dog), and Molly (small dog). Izzy has yet to show her playful side, but does act like a puppy at times, jumping up when she gets really excited. This behavior is easily redirected by stepping sideways or making a vocal noise.
I must comment about Izzy's tail wag as she moves her whole back half side to side when she is happy. Her tail is very loud, too, when it strikes or comes into contact with something hard.
Izzy is making great strides adapting to living in a house, something she probable never could have imagined in her lifetime. Although Izzy is not my first puppy mill mama, each and every one of them has been special, and it is such a delight to watch them bloom into loving, happy dogs that greet each day as a delightful surprise to learn something new.
Izzy's future home must have children 10 years and older (if any), another medium to large dog to teach her all the good things in life, and a physical fence that may be optional depending on the family wishing to adopt her.
