Coal was adopted on May 20, 2018. He will have a happy and active life with his new mom and dad and a furry dog sister. His family is looking forward to taking him for boat rides and swimming this summer.

Thank you RAGOM for saving this sweetheart and allowing his foster family to enjoy him the past couple of months. Although he is not gold, his heart surely is!

The weather is improving, the snow has all melted, and Coal is ready for Spring! Coal is growing like a weed and weighed in at 52 pounds last week.

The last trip to the vet went very well. Coal is now worm-free and his hair loss around his eye has greatly improved. He had a mild case of demodectic mange. This type of mange is not contagious, and there were no mites found by the vet last week. Coal has a mild ear infection that we have been treating and he was prescribed a new medication to help clear that up.

Coal has been a busy boy. He learned "sit" and "lay down" in a jiffy, and he has also mastered "shake" and "roll over." Coal will play fetch for short periods. He will retrieve the ball and bring it back to you. He also enjoys his daily walks and is working on his leash training. Coal is also a professional counter surfer, but during the last week we have noticed it has not been quite as frequent.

This boy is a very good puppy and has never been destructive. There are a lot of toys here for him to play with and chew on, and we keep shoes, clothes, etc. picked up and put away. He is perfectly content with his own things and is good at entertaining himself.

Coal is scheduled for his neuter surgery on May 9. Once he recovers he will be ready for his forever family.

Please note Coal's requirements: no children under 10, another medium to large dog in the household to mentor him, and a physical fence is preferred (no invisible fencing).

Little Coal has been a wonderful foster puppy in our home  He loves to play with the more rambunctious Golden that resides here.  He will take frequent naps when tuckered out and snuggle right up on his humans.

Coal is crated at night and when we are gone at work.  He sleeps all night and does not make a peep.  He has not had any accidents in his crate.  On a typical work day his Foster Dad gets home at least once to let him out.

We are waiting on results from a skin test as Coal has some hair loss under his right eye.  He also had some worms which he is receiving treatment to clear up.  He will have a recheck at the vet in a few weeks.  If all is well we will then schedule his neuter which will hopefully be the first week of April.  Coal will then be ready to move to his forever home.

Coal will need a family that can spend a lot of time with him to help him grow to be an outstanding pet.  He will need a family dedicated to providing continued training, physical and mental exercise, patience and most of all love.  Just maybe Coal may be your new best friend?
