We'd like to share a couple of photos of Josie, enjoying her days with us.

This couch is just my size!
Always plenty of toys to choose from!

Josie was adopted in May 2018 by a wonderful family with another Golden named Bear. She settled in and totally loves her new family.

A few weeks ago she lost her brother Bear to cancer. The family reports that she is thriving still. They have always had two dogs so are planning to add another to join Josie.

We are thrilled for Ms. Josie!

Josie has been here for three weeks now and is finally dropping some of her cautiousness and busting some happy dog moves! This is the absolutely rewarding part of fostering these former breeder dogs. I am brought to tears seeing her wrestling with other dogs.

Previously, she had to be wherever I was and would not go out unless I was with her. Now, she goes out with the other dogs and loves playing in the snow. Rather than chasing the bunnies and squirrels like the rest of the dogs, Josie chases the leaves skittering along.

She had a pretty big space bubble for other dogs when she first came, except for Sunshine. She would growl if the other dogs came too close. Sunshine has gone to her permanent foster home and Josie is snuggling with my resident Sadie.

Even when Sadie crowds her, as in the picture, she doesn't care! Love this girl!

Josie came into RAGOM from a commercial breeder. She was known only as #164, and is now Josie! She will be 5 years old in April and has recently had a litter. She has never lived in a home so is learning about odd noises, reflections in glass and the normal household activities.

She is skittish but also very sweet and loving. She readily comes for pets. She had her wellness exam and all was well. She is 74 pounds and is working on losing a few post puppy pounds. She is fully house trained.

Josie is a deep red Golden with some gold highlights. She has gold eyes and is very beautiful! Because she has only known life with other dogs, she will need another medium- to large-sized dog in her forever home to continue learning how to be a dog.

Josie does not need a physical fence but can't go to a home that uses an electric (invisible) fence. That would scare her! Children 10 or older are fine. We have learned that the unpredictable, normal activity of younger children scares most breeder dogs to the point where they will hide until the children go to bed.

Josie will be spayed in about a week and will be ready for her forever family then.
