We were fortunate that she chose us for her foster home for a month. Two days after her adoption was finalized she celebrated her 7th birthday at her new permanent home way Up North where, if we had to guess, she probably got birthday cake and lots of toys that she's not sure what to do with yet.
Clara will get to continue her multiple daily walks (her favorite thing) and hang out with two to three humans (depending on when her college boy is home). They will no doubt, love her unconditionally.
Congratulations Clara on the start of your new adventures.

Little miss Clara has been a RAGOM dog for a month now. She recently had her spay and is now ready to go to her new home. There has not been an official adoption yet but her new people are line up and ready to go. What has she been up to in the meantime?
Well, she got her ears cleaned out and her teeth polished up and a bath at the vet too. She's been a very brave pup each time she has gone there. She enjoys a lot of things in life, but the cone on her head... not one of them.
We tried to teach her that toys are fun but she'll have nothing to do with them. We visited the lake a few times. She's not a swimmer but she enjoys getting her cute little toes wet. She loves going for her walks and misses them greatly now that she's on exercise restriction due to her spay.
She's met a few new friends, both human and dog and gets along well with others. She's on a consistent eating schedule, has found her nighttime sleeping spot in the bedroom, and loves to be close to you. She's such a good little dog. Next update should be an adopted one.

Clara feels like part of the family, and each day we have her we learn just a little bit more. We are clearing up some ear gunk, but she hears just fine. She has good recall and will come when called. We have not really worked with the sit/stay just because she's so pokey that there really hasn't been a need for it.
That being said, she is finding her "running" legs and although she won't be running any marathons, she is enjoying her new found low-keyed energy. She loves her walks, ear scratches, and sneaking off with your clothing, dish towels, bath towels, jackets... well, you get the picture.
She now loves going for rides in the pickup and jumps right in. She, however, does not like lightening. She tried to dig herself a hole (inside the house) and when that proved to be unsuccessful, she hid under the bed. We closed the curtains and bedroom doors to help calm her and she fell asleep. We did not have any thunder so we can't report on that.
All-in-all, she doing great and enjoying the Golden Life.

I can't tell you how hard it is to get good pictures of a sweet dog that keeps following the camera around with her nose. I think she's enjoying being in the spotlight a little too much.
Clara gains more confidence each day, but new things are still a little scary for her. This weekend she got to hang out with the nephews, niece, and other family members. She wants to play but she's not quite sure how yet. Fetch and tug are not on her list yet, nor is swimming.
Pouncing and flopping with our resident dog is moving up on the list, along with exploring. She also enjoys digging herself a nice cool spot in the dirt to sun herself in. On the up side, she does not mind getting her little paws rinsed off before coming back inside.
We are waiting for some lab results to come back, and then she will be ready for her spay. She weighed in at a healthy 53 pounds today, has lost some of her baby fat. She's gaining more energy and is starting to run a little during our walks. She can now hang in there nicely for a three-mile walk, just in time for the warm weather and long days.
Clara gets compliments wherever she goes and, although she is currently closed to applications, she will continue to get her well deserved updates here.

Sweet little Clara has been with us for just over a week now. She doesn't have the greatest appetite yet but she is by all means, not starving. She has plenty of energy (although low key) and bright eyes and a waggy, waggy tail.
Considering she came from a sheltered life she has a lot of confidence. The scariest things we found are the garage and our wood steps. The carpeted ones are fine and the garage is fine if the door is already open. She loves to lay in the cool dirt and water puddles, but is uncertain of the pond.
She loves going on her daily walks. She goes at least twice a day and in addition, enjoys spending time outside laying in the sun. She is not afraid of the lawn mower, air compressor, clippers, or horses, and she took three short successful car rides. Yup, the first ride for her to her foster home did not sit well with her stomach.
This week she goes in to the vet for her checkup and we're hoping for, and expecting, a clean bill of health. Happy days are ahead of you little girl.

Clara is as sweet as they come and settled into her foster home right away with no accidents or barking. She loves to be near you and if her tail was a wind turbine, it could generate enough electric to power a city.
She is a great size at approximately 60 pounds, which means she can cuddle right in with you without squishing you.
