Cassie has been very busy! She has been helping foster mom get ready for Goldzilla.
Cassie did great meeting all the people at Goldzilla and did a lot of walking around. She was so tired by the time the foster parade was going to start that she laid down and went right to sleep while we waited for our turn.
On Monday after Goldzilla, Cassie went to the vet and had her spay surgery. She has put the breeding life behind her and is looking forward to the future.
We took a week to recover from her spay, and she has now been adopted by a wonderful family. They will give Cassie (now named Stevie, after Stevie Nicks) the life she deserves—a truly Golden life with her new fur brother, Tommy!
Congratulations to Tommy and the W family!

Cassie has been moved to a new foster home. She is now fostered in Frazee, Minnesota.
In her last update we were waiting to see if Cassie was pregnant. On Tuesday, July 31, we learned she was pregnant, and her foster family was not able to take on a mama dog with puppies. So Cassie was moved to my home on Thursday that same week.
We were told that she only had two puppies, and they were big. We did not get a very good idea of when she would be due. The vet said 10 - 20 days.
Cassie went into labor on Monday in the early morning. We needed to seek medical intervention, because the puppies were so big they were not coming out. Sadly both puppies were stillborn. Cassie was very sad and not feeling very good for a few days.
But Cassie is doing so much better now and is starting to shine! She loves people and does seek out attention to get belly rubs. She is eating well, is kennel trained, and gets along great with the other dogs in the house.
We are working on house training, and if I keep a good eye on her, I can tell when she needs to go out. So no accidents in the house, but I would not say she is house trained yet. With consistency and a good schedule she should be house trained soon.
Cassie comes from a commercial breeder. Some things she will need in her forever home are a dog about her same size, a fenced-in yard, and if children are in the home they would need to be 10 or older. As sweet as Cassie is, she is still fearful of loud noises and fast movements.
Cassie will be spayed in about 4 weeks. She needs a little time to let her body heal. She will be available to meet families that are interested in her, but she can't be adopted until after her spay surgery.

We welcomed Cassie into our home on Sunday, June 24. She has visited the vet and is in very good health. She has ear infections in both ears, a lot of tarter on her teeth, but all in all she is in great health.
We are not sure, but she might be pregnant, which is why she is unavailable for adoption until her condition is determined.
Cassie met our resident dogs with no issues. She is shy but slowly coming out of her shell. Loud noises scare her very easily, and the sound of barking dogs has her fleeing in the opposite direction.
She is not house trained, and I do not think she knows her name. Both will come in time. She is very food motivated, so training should not be an issue. She takes food very gently from the hand.
Cassie loves to be outside in the grass. Every opportunity she has, she rolls on her back and gets in a good wiggle. This also affords you the opportunity to rub her belly.
Cassie was a breeder dog and knows little of living indoors. So she is learning about doorways, stairs, and other new things. More later as we get to know this sweet girl.
