Charlotte was adopted by a wonderful family. They have another RAGOM dog and Charlotte is doing great in her new home!

Char had her leg surgery about 10 days ago and she is doing great. She had to wear the cone for a week, but isn’t bothering it any longer.
She can only go out to do her business and then only on a short leash. That is a pain for both Char and Foster Mom. But she needs to heal, so it is worth it.
Charlotte would prefer to be able to run with the other dogs. She also wants to wrestle like she used to. But she can’t do either of those right now. She’s getting lots of love, though! And Massages were part of Dr. R’s post-op instructions. She loves that!
The injections into her joint turned out not to be possible. Her joints are odd, and the surgeon couldn’t get the needle in the right spot. So she will use Carprofen when she has a bad day and joint supplements.
I am happy to say she lost weight! The green bean diet is working for her. She came in at 50 pounds and is now down to 42!! This has taken quite a bit of pressure off her joints. She has an hour glass figure! And all the dogs here are getting green beans for treats.
We have received a few WONDERFUL apps from folks in condos, apartments, and town houses. I am so sorry to report that Char is a barker. She barks for a bit when I leave and when I come home and when she is playing. That doesn’t mix well with shared buildings.
I would like to thank Heather D for her generous sponsorship of Miss Charlotte! I know she stole your heart. Char and I are so grateful for your support.

Charlotte saw the surgeon last week, and the news was a little discouraging. She has arthritis in her elbows and wrists due to her short stature and the bone structure that is common with it.
The surgeon recommended a simple surgery that should help to relieve some of the pressure on her wrist and make it more comfortable. That will take place on November 29th. Recovery will probably take 4 to 6 weeks.
Dr. R also recommended trying joint injections in her elbows to see if that helps her to be more comfortable. She will have 2 to 3 injections over a 4- to 6-week period. If they help, she would benefit from them every 3 to 6 months for the foreseeable future.
It is so hard to tell day to day that she is in pain! She runs, wrestles, and chases balls, though always with the limp and hop on her front paw. She's a very happy, sweet girl! If we can make her more comfortable, we will do it.
Char is a love with other dogs and people, too! She could fit into almost any family, but would prefer one that does not expect her to walk long distances, hike trails, etc. She does need to stay lean and strong to support her joints, so daily activity is a must for her.
We received a lot of applications when Charlotte was first posted. I am not sure if any of them are still interested after reading this, but please let us know if Charlotte seems like a good fit!

Charlotte, a.k.a. Char or Charlie, is a 3- to 5-year-old mini Golden that came from Turkey 2 weeks ago. She is a hoot! We are not sure if she is mixed with some other breed, but she has the demeanor of a Golden--sweet, ball-loving, critter-chasing, happy girl.
Char loves to wrestle with my resident Turkey boy Tannin. And she loves to chase a ball, chew sticks, and look for critters in the wood pile or under the evergreen tree. She makes me laugh! She is great with other dogs and actually moves them where she wants them to go with a bark--not at all aggressive, though!
Charlotte has been limping on her front leg and scuffs the paw on that leg when she walks. Her nails are quite short from that scuffing. We had X-rays taken, and she will have an exam with our surgeon in the next couple of weeks. It didn't sound like there was any surgery that would help, as it may just be arthritis.
Since she weighs 50 pounds, losing about 10 pounds will ease some of the stress on her joints. We are already working on that. And it doesn't stop her from running or wrestling!
If Charlotte sounds like a pup that would fit into your home, please send in your application!
