Lovely, sweet Duchess has had a good few months! She loves the snow and that's saying a lot coming from a dog from Turkey!
Her seizure meds are working and she is seizure free. Her health is good. She is still timid leaving the backyard, but we’re working on this. I think she just feels safe after a life on her own and is happy to stay put.
She twirls in circles when it’s time to eat!
Consider bringing this darling girl into your home. She is a great companion, loving, and will follow you around. She wants to be near her people.

Yay! Duchess is doing great!
She had 11 teeth removed on December 20, and it was a great success. She is eating great and everything has healed well. She also had a plant removed from deep within her right ear and hind leg, and all is well.
She is so happy and full of tail wags. She loves our senior dogs and being cozy on all the beds around the house.
She still won't leave the backyard to go on a walk. It has been a slow process, but we are working on it. She is on pain and arthritis meds as well as joint supplements, and she will need to remain on the anti-seizure meds and prescription dog food for seizures.
She has a lot of love to give, and oh my, those eyes... She is very sedentary and just likes to sleep. She also loves to watch us cook. Her gait is slow as her knees are very arthritic. She walks low to the ground on her hind end.
Consider loving her and bringing her into your home. No stairs would be great and a mellow dog in the home would be perfect for companionship.

Hello from Duchess!
Duchess had a setback this week with her seizures. She suffered three on Thursday and was hospitalized. She is back home and doing well. She is now on anti-seizure meds.
Her worms have cleared and her ears are almost better. She is scheduled for dental work in December.
Duchess is more bubbly with each passing day. She is a lover and now follows us to more rooms in the house. She ventured into the living room with her buddy Charlie Bear to get warm by the fire.

Welcome, Duchess! We loved you the moment we saw you. While your journey to America was stressful, you have turned a big corner in the last few weeks!
Duchess is a sweet girl. She loves our resident senior dogs that welcomed her with open arms. Charlie Bear kisses her sweet nose and cuddles with her.
She is eating well, takes treats gently, and has no resource guarding, but we do feed her separately. She is currently being treated for a double ear infection and worms. She will be re-tested by November 11.
Duchess has arthritis, especially in her knees, and she is on medication. When she is seen by the vet next, they will look into this further and will also let us know if she needs to have any dental work. She needs to be lifted in and out of the car, but doesn't seem to mind the actual ride.
Duchess had three seizures within 12 hours of her arrival, but has not had one since. The stress of the journey was just too much for this senior girl.
She knows her name and simple commands in English, and she is a big tail wagger. She has recently done the Golden lean-in as she does not want you to stop petting her.
Our hearts melt every time we look into her big beautiful eyes. We wonder what those eyes have seen over the course of her life, but now she is safe, well cared for, and loved.
More to come after her next vet visit
