Profile

Sweet Lily is a blind, diabetic senior who loves being around people and rewards you with a big smile and wagging tail despite having lost both her human parents. This resilient, gentle girl loves being touched and part of the party. Her diabetes requires twice-daily shots, which she takes well. She is scheduled for cataract surgery in March, which could hopefully restore some vision and independence from her dutiful sister Sadi 18-265, who is her protector and guide. They must be adopted together.

Lily is a slim senior sweetheart who loves her people. This very special 12-year-old Golden embodies the kind, gentle, and loving Golden spirit. Despite her difficult year, having lost both parents and coping with her medical issues, she exhibits typical Golden personality traits—gentle, sweet and happy.

She has medical issues that are being addressed, and progress is being made to make this gal healthier and more comfortable. Lily, a diabetic, has not been adequately managed for a while due to her parents’ health. She is now blind and requires a twice-daily insulin shot, which she handles well.

She has had a hot spot and ear infection that are nearly cleared, but that has prevented proceeding with a diabetic curve study to determine optimal insulin dosage. That day-long study will happen in the next few weeks and will help her feel better with a more precise dosage.

She had an appointment with the ophthalmologist and is a good candidate for cataract surgery, which is scheduled for mid-March. Removing the cataracts could be a game changer, restoring some of her vision and independence. This will help her sister Sadi 18-265 as well, since Sadi has been Lily’s seeing-eye dog, gently guiding and helping her sister.

Both girls love people, and they show their appreciation with wagging tails, nudges, and sometimes high-pitch squeals of happiness when being loved on. They enjoy being next to you and are such sweet girls, their dispositions completely unaffected by their health challenges—typical happy Golden personalities.

Naturally Lily’s activity level is low, basically going in and out to do her business. She has learned the layout of the house and does her exploring, but she generally needs a limited familiar living area. She is spayed and microchipped, and is nondestructive, has no separation anxiety, and displays no resource guarding.

Hopefully the cataract surgery will enable Lily to venture out more, increasing her activity level. She has free roam of the house and sleeps on the floor or dog bed. She will bark to get your attention, particularly if she wants to be part of the party.

Lily is bonded to her sister Sadi 18-265, who is obese and has limited mobility. This pair of special sisters must be adopted together.
