We are so pleased to introduce lovely Ellie -- she is a real sweetheart. She is a gentle, petite girl, weighing about 50 pounds right now. Her coat is a medium gold, very pretty in the sunlight.
Ellie can be very playful, running in the backyard with our resident dogs and learning the rules of the various games the dogs have invented. She can play hard and then nap hard. And somewhere in the time between those activities she has developed an interest in watching TV.
Now, most dogs show some interest in TV, they may watch a little and then try to make sense of what they see by looking behind the TV, that kind of thing. Ellie takes it to a new level. She *relishes* TV time - if we can't find her all we have to do is go to the living room and there she'll be, sometimes sitting, sometimes standing, watching TV.
At first we thought she was interested in the animals she was seeing on the screen but we now know she'll watch anything with enthusiasm. Nightly news, cooking shows, movies -- sometimes she just stands and wags her tail with joy. We've even caught her sitting in front of the sliding glass door watching the TV reflected on the glass. She's a hoot!
Ellie has been spayed, her ear infection is a thing of the past and she's current on her vaccines. She handles the vet experience very well and loves the attention she gets as the staff engage with her. She's just so sweet -- I can't think of a better way to describe it.
She doesn't get on the furniture, she's not interested in people food and she *loves* attention. She has been known to get up on Foster Dad's lap to watch TV and snuggle. She has learned that 'No' means no jumping on the counters and she's mastered that nicely.
When Ellie first arrived, she slept in the kennel and was kenneled whenever we left the house. She has now joined in the flow of the households and sleeps in the bedroom on a dog bed and does well outside of her kennel when we run errands. She loves to go for a ride in the car and likes it best if she can watch out the window.
Ellie will return to the vet this week for her post-spay surgery visit and then will be ready for her forever home. She is a delight -- her forever home needs to recognize that she's energetic and exhuberant and make sure she has time to play and get exercise. And they also need to have a TV!
