Hello! I am new to the RAGOM family. My name is Jeter, and I am a handsome purebred Golden Retriever who was born in Minnesnowta in 2017, but until recently was living in South Dakota. My foster mom thinks I may have been named after that famous baseball player Derek Jeter; however, Foster Mom says I'm more handsome than him.
You ask why am I here? Well, my family downsized and moved to a smaller house with a smaller yard, and I just became too much for them.
This is what I am looking for in a new fur-every family:
- I love all people, but I could knock over the little ones with my goofy body. I could potentially live with some dog-savvy children, but they are going to need to be aware that I like to jump around a lot.
- I get along with all dogs I have met so far and ignore the foster feline family member, so my new home could potentially have furry siblings.
- Lots of walks, runs, or play time is a must for me as I am a young, energetic pup. My foster family says I seem to have boundless energy, whatever that means.
- For now, my foster family thinks I can do without a physical fence. They currently take me on at least two walks a day as well as give me some play time with my B-A-L-L in the backyard using a trolley/tie-out system. My forever family will need to have a plan to keep me safe as well as give me the exercise I will need on a daily basis.
- I would love to go to doggie school so I can continue my training and socialization around people, places, and other animals. I think it could help me bond with my new family, too. I can't wait for doggie school!
Foster Mom has a few things to say:
Jeter has been with us since April 5, 2019, so we are still learning about him and he about us. Things we have found out:
- He loves spending time outside and going for walks.
- He loves to play B-A-L-L!!
- He is crate and potty trained; we've had no accidents so far.
- He has lots of energy and is very muscular and happy-go-lucky.
- He loves everyone, but will sometimes forget how big he is (78 pounds).
- He love stuffies, so he will need supervision as he will tear them apart if given the chance.
We recently went to the vet. Jeter was found to be in excellent health, which is not surprising as he came to RAGOM fully vetted and his surrendering family took great care of him.
He does have a skin condition that my require some medical intervention in the future, but it is currently not causing him any issue and does not require any medications at this time. It is recommended that he receive regular baths, and since he loves getting his paws dirty, this works out nicely. He also charmed everyone he encountered at the office.
If you think you will be able to provide Jeter the continued exercise and training he needs, he just might be the perfect dog for you. He is quite the happy-go-lucky Golden!
