Greetings from Grand Forks, ND and a warm welcome to Ms. Annie!

Annie was found in rural western ND two weeks before Thanksgiving by a hunter.  He took her home and was caring for her when on Thanksgiving Day (11/22/12) she delivered 10 puppies!!  The good Samaritan was unable to care for all 11 dogs so he contacted the local shelter.  They too were unable to care for the family so the shelter contacted Prairie Paws Rescue based out of Jamestown, ND.  Prairie Paws has worked with RAGOM before so they contacted us and RAGOM and Prairie Paws Rescue coordinated together to get this wonderful momma and her pups into the safety net of rescue!  Many, Many, Many thanks go out to Kaye J. for driving over 600 miles in just a few days to pick up and deliver these pups to safety!  It's wonderful and amazing what rescue organizations can accomplish!

So, Ms. Annie....what's there to say about perfection?  I picked her & her pups up on Dec 29th and she walked into our home like she'd always belonged here.  No issues with my two resident dogs or the cat.  Although I'm not entirely certain she had ever seen a cat before because she was curious about her.  Nothing major, just something new.  Her 10 puppies are fat and healthy which is a stark contrast to the condition Annie was in.  Poor girl was so thin her ribs and other bones were protruding.  However, over the last two weeks she has been here, she has blossomed with the help of excellent nutrition, supplements, and 5 times a day feedings.  She needs frequent, small meals to help build her up.  Each meal is about 2 1/2 cups so she gets almost 8-10 cups of food a day!

I have been weaning the pups over the last week and they are finally officially off her now.  Her caloric intake requirements should taper off now, but until she gains another 10-15lbs, we will continue with the multiple feedings daily.

Annie has a family who has been waiting a very long time to adopt the perfect dog.  We all agree Annie is the perfect dog!  She cannot be officially adopted until she is healthy enough to be spayed, so the new foster will care for her until then.  Best part??  The new family is only 70 miles down the road which means I get to visit her frequently!!!

Again, I would like to say a shout out to Prairie Paws Rescue for helping this beautiful spirit reach safety, feel warmth, and be loved.  And thank you to RAGOM for receiving this family of 11!!
