Greetings from Grand Forks, ND and a warm welcome to Ms. Annie!

Annie was found in rural western ND two weeks before Thanksgiving by a hunter.  He took her home and was caring for her when on Thanksgiving Day (11/22/12) she delivered 10 puppies!!  The good Samaritan was unable to care for all 11 dogs so he contacted the local shelter.  They too were unable to care for the family so the shelter contacted Prairie Paws Rescue based out of Jamestown, ND.  Prairie Paws has worked with RAGOM before so they contacted us and RAGOM and Prairie Paws Rescue coordinated together to get this wonderful momma and her pups into the safety net of rescue!  Many, Many, Many thanks go out to Kaye J. for driving over 600 miles in just a few days to pick up and deliver these pups to safety!  It's wonderful and amazing what rescue organizations can accomplish!

So, Ms. Annie....what's there to say about perfection?  I picked her & her pups up on Dec 29th and she walked into our home like she'd always belonged here.  No issues with my two resident dogs or the cat.  Although I'm not entirely certain she had ever seen a cat before because she was curious about her.  Nothing major, just something new.  Her 10 puppies are fat and healthy which is a stark contrast to the condition Annie was in.  Poor girl was so thin her ribs and other bones were protruding.  However, over the last two weeks she has been here, she has blossomed with the help of excellent nutrition, supplements, and 5 times a day feedings.  She needs frequent, small meals to help build her up.  Each meal is about 2 1/2 cups so she gets almost 8-10 cups of food a day!

I have been weaning the pups over the last week and they are finally officially off her now.  Her caloric intake requirements should taper off now, but until she gains another 10-15lbs, we will continue with the multiple feedings daily.

Annie has a family who has been waiting a very long time to adopt the perfect dog.  We all agree Annie is the perfect dog!  She cannot be officially adopted until she is healthy enough to be spayed, so the new foster will care for her until then.  Best part??  The new family is only 70 miles down the road which means I get to visit her frequently!!!

Again, I would like to say a shout out to Prairie Paws Rescue for helping this beautiful spirit reach safety, feel warmth, and be loved.  And thank you to RAGOM for receiving this family of 11!!

Annie has been spayed and we are so excited to say she's been adopted by us her foster family. Annie has come a long way since that cold day in Dec. when she came into RAGOM with her 10 little puppies. Annie has a spirit and spunk to her that is just wonderful. She doesn't take those Golden naps one knows Golden's love to do. She's afraid she might miss out on something fun and exciting. To Annie even helping out with laundry is 'fun' for her. I keep telling her it's a chore we women don't like to do, but she tends to disagree with me. Daily noises and fast movements will be a part of Annie's learning process as she settles into the new world she's seeing. I don't know what kind of life Annie had previously before coming into RAGOM, but she does have some fears. We are slowly working on those with her and she's doing amazingly well. Annie loves riding in the car so she'll be our navigator on the many adventures we have planned in the future.

Annie has been in her new foster home a week now and has settled in beautifully. She had her last booster shot this past week along with a check up to see when she could safely be spayed. The vet would like to wait till the end of Feb. to spay Annie because she came into RAGOM underweight, still needs to gain more weight and have some time to recoup from all she's been through. Also she's still not completely dried up yet from nursing her 10 puppies and has a small milk cyst that needs to be cleared up. We are using a warm wet compresses to open the cyst so it will drain.

Annie is a sweet and loving dog. She loves to be next to you with a hand always petting her. Night time she'll jump up in bed for some loving, but after awhile she jumps off and sleeps next to the bed. Annie loves her tennis balls, chasing squirrels and her balls reflection in the dishwasher or oven. She's such a silly girl .. she'll drop her ball somewhere in the kitchen and then sit in front of an appliance waiting for someone to move her ball. Finally I had to get down on the floor to see what she was seeing. She can see the reflection of the whole kitchen in the oven's glass front. That explains why she sits in front of the oven bobbing her head around like she's looking for something in the oven :)

A few days after Annie and her pups arrived to their foster home in Grand Forks, ND we went to see the puppies and Annie. After losing our Golden girl Ty in Nov. we felt it was time to get a puppy. Our list was simple as to what we were looking for .. a male puppy. But Annie just kept grabbing our heart. We are strong believers that sometimes things are meant to be and Annie was letting us know 'we all needed each other'. Annie will be staying with us and her foster brother Buddy 12-142. After her spay we will be adopting her :)

RAGOM thank you for being so patient with us in our search for our next Golden. It's been a long process, but on a cold day in December she found us.
