Hi, my name is Callie and I arrived in RAGOM foster care on Sat. in Olivia, MN. I come from a puppy mill and I am a breeder dog. My last home fed me so well that I weigh 90.5 pounds, so now I have to lose some weight. They also thought at first I was 6 year old, but I am really only 3 years old. Maybe it was all the weight that made me look older. I was around children coming into the barn, but am really shy. I do bond great with the other dog in the household at Olivia, which helps to show me how to go outside and do my business and get into the car.
I went to the vet yesterday and everything checked out okay. I do have a little tartar on my molars and thin hair on both sides, which the vet said may be from me laying down a lot. I also will get another bath when it warms a little to get my barn smell off. The vet said I will have to wait a couple of weeks for spay because I am in heat.
I am very good at using my weight to my advantage when needed. I can use it to escape a wire cage by using it as a battering ram, which works great. However, my foster has a plastic kennel I can't get out of this way or any other way. I also can lay down when I don't want to go anywhere and spread my front legs, and then If they try to pick me up, it's like lifting a 90-pound bowl of jello - you lift the front end and all the weight goes to the back end and so on, so you really need two people to move me.
I am really a mellow dog and you can touch me all over and I will not growl or bite. I come out of the kennel when it is open and take stuffed animals back to my kennel. I let my foster mom trim the hair on my feet and they look very good now. I ignore cats in the home even when they jump on top of the kennel and do not chase them. I do get afraid of unusual sounds and run back to the kennel for safety, like the garage door opening, but with time, I will get used to these noises.
I am really looking for a forever home to start a new life. Please contact placement if you would like to have someone special like me. Please also watch for updates and more pictures.
