Hi, my name is Callie and I arrived in RAGOM foster care on Sat. in Olivia, MN. I come from a puppy mill and I am a breeder dog. My last home fed me so well that I weigh 90.5 pounds, so now I have to lose some weight. They also thought at first I was 6 year old, but I am really only 3 years old. Maybe it was all the weight that made me look older. I was around children coming into the barn, but am really shy. I do bond great with the other dog in the household at Olivia, which helps to show me how to go outside and do my business and get into the car.

I went to the vet yesterday and everything checked out okay. I do have a little tartar on my molars and thin hair on both sides, which the vet said may be from me laying down a lot. I also will get another bath when it warms a little to get my barn smell off. The vet said I will have to wait a couple of weeks for spay because I am in heat.

I am very good at using my weight to my advantage when needed. I can use it to escape a wire cage by using it as a battering ram, which works great. However, my foster has a plastic kennel I can't get out of this way or any other way. I also can lay down when I don't want to go anywhere and spread my front legs, and then If they try to pick me up, it's like lifting a 90-pound bowl of jello - you lift the front end and all the weight goes to the back end and so on, so you really need two people to move me.

I am really a mellow dog and you can touch me all over and I will not growl or bite. I come out of the kennel when it is open and take stuffed animals back to my kennel. I let my foster mom trim the hair on my feet and they look very good now. I ignore cats in the home even when they jump on top of the kennel and do not chase them. I do get afraid of unusual sounds and run back to the kennel for safety, like the garage door opening, but with time, I will get used to these noises.

I am really looking for a forever home to start a new life. Please contact placement if you would like to have someone special like me. Please also watch for updates and more pictures.

Hi, all. I am enjoying the summer by going into the pool to get balls. I also love to chase them and bring them back to get pets. I am enclosing pics for you to see. I am also going to see a possible adoptive family on the 22nd of July, so everyone, keep your fingers crossed that I find a forever home.

Hi, everyone. I had another checkup and had ear infection and the vet put me on medicine, which is helping a lot. I also found out I had lost some more weight, and am down to 71 pounds from 90 pounds. My foster was so happy that I am doing so well.

I love playing more now and my friend Rusty is teaching me to play ball and return it. I can also entertain myself by playing with a ball. My shyness is getting better, but I still stay a distance from strangers and bark. I have a picture of me carrying my toys in my mouth, at least two at a time from upstairs to downstairs and back up at night.

I did meet some new friends this winter and played more with the younger dog in the picture as well as my Golden friend. I did meet some smaller children and moved away from them and sometimes growl at them, so a home with older children would be better. I liked playing in the snow and running this winter, but it is all gone now, but puddles are fun to play in too. My foster had a lot of snow with dirt on it and I got muddy several times and had to have a bath in downstairs shower with warm water. I like baths and getting rubbed off.

My forever home should have an older dog to teach me more things as I learn more about this new life. My hair and tail are growing back in and you can see in the pictures I have quite a bushy tail. My sides were just about bare when I came into RAGOM from being heavy and only able to lay on my side. I can now lay on the couch or bed on the floor and can spread out on my stomach. I am learning not to lay down so much when a hand comes toward me from my foster. I love to be brushed, massaged, and petted. I go right in the car with my companion with no more lifting. My foster says yahoo to that.

I am still waiting for someone who may find a place for me in their home forever. Just contact placement if you need someone to fill that spot. Thanks.

Hi All, I just had another weigh-in yesterday at the vet office, and am down to 77 pounds and feeling it. I love to play and can sleep on my tummy now.

Rusty, my teacher, still helps me come into the house, but I love to play with him outside. I included some pictures of me outside playing.

I noticed outside the other day something new. There were these funny puddles that I could see myself in and I could splash in them. My foster thought I looked hilarious splashing in the puddles, moving from one to the next. I even tasted them and they were cold. I love to run up on the snow banks, but lately I sink down to my belly, and it's hard to get around and it really tires me out.

I love to carry toys and put them where I sleep. I have quite a lot to chose from, but I have my favorites. I also found a ball and can play by myself with it. My foster threw a ball outside and I chased after it, but Rusty was faster. I was okay with it because my foster threw one for me too. Now the ball, two toys with plastic bottles inside, and a furry cat in hat toy are my favorites, and I can even carry in my mouth at a time up and down the steps. I have also learned that I can finally get up on the couch where I love to nap downstairs. I can hide my toys under the pillows, by pushing them under with my nose and then sleep on the pillow. I am sending a picture for you to see.

I am still wary of people and ride on the floor in back seat of the car. I have met other people and dogs, and do okay. I am learning to stand more, instead of laying down to be petted. I am still working on the "come" command, as I don't always want to leave the outdoors to come inside with Rusty.

I am looking for a forever home with another large dog, as I move away from small dogs that jump all over me or bite on me. I need a fence as now that weather is nice, I like to go exploring. My family must have patience and lots of love to give, as it takes me time to learn everything and so many new things are coming into my life now.

You can contact RAGOM placement if you are interested in adopting me and I will continue to keep you updated on my progress.

Time for an update and pictures. My foster says I am so cute with my white whiskers and all-black nose and when I am sleeping.

I am now spayed and did fine. I had even lost almost 6 pounds, which makes me 84.6 pounds now, when I went for the spay.

I have a good teacher named Rusty 04-374, who is teaching me to play, that people are okay, to eat snow, and basic things dogs do (like going outside). You don't learn a lot of these things as a breeder dog, so I am lucky to have Rusty to teach me. I am learning that I don't have to be so shy and lay down to get attention from people.

My foster feeds me in the kitchen now and not in the kennel, which is my safe place. I still will move away if people get too close, but I am learning. I also am learning to play with stuffed animals, squeaky toys, balls. Any strange noises will get me moving away pretty fast to a safe place. Even with all my weight, I can play and run pretty fast.

My foster caught me trying to counter surf the other day, so I found out that is not appropriate. I must wait to be fed and will eat the green beans and pumpkin without any problem.

I have so many things to learn and I am looking for a forever home, so anyone out there that has patience and another dog to play with should contact RAGOM placement for my adoption--I'll be waiting.
