Hi Everyone!
My name is Carlie! I am a 7 year old Golden Retriever mix with a beautiful face and a love for rocking chairs. I've been in my foster home for a couple weeks now and I'm really settling in nicely. I live with two older Golden Retrievers who I get along with great, and one naughty kitty, who I mostly ignore but sometimes I like to follow around the house.
I'm currently a little bigger than I would like to be.....by about 40 pounds.....but I am on a strict diet now so I'm hoping to get back my girlish figure very quickly. In addition to being a bit overweight, I also have diabetes and foster dad has explained that a proper diet is essential in dealing with the disease. My health is still being assessed but, in addition to the new diet, I also get two shots of insulin a day. Getting a shot of insulin doesn't sound like much fun, but it really is no big deal to me or my foster daddy. Just part of the routine.
Well, my first couple weeks in my foster home have been great! My foster family has already taken me to the park several times for walks and we've visited grandma a couple of times, too. I love going places because that means I get to ride in the car, which I love. I get to sit in the passenger seat next to foster daddy and look out the window while the older dogs have to sit in the back seat. And when I am at home I like to play with the stuffed toys and balls, look out the window and just relax. I also like to go out and explore in the back yard and bark at the deer. It's not such a bad life for Miss Carlie!
