Duke arrived at our home today after a transport by two wonderful RAGOM volunteers.  Thank you Laura and Bob!  I am in LOVE with this handsome boy already and he’s only been here a few short hours.  Duke is a 8 year old purebred papered Golden Retriever.  Duke was an owner surrender from an environment where he lived outside. 

He has a heavy winter coat on him that is in serious need of a bath.  He’d been eating snow for fluids and was quite happy to drink an entire bowl of water when he arrived.  I can feel his ribs under his heavy coat and am feeding him small portions multiple times to begin his weight gain program (I so wish I had that problem). 

He met my three dogs and foster dog Abby (08-218) in very gentlemanly fashion.   I put a gentle leader on him before introducing him to the dogs and he tolerates the gentle leader very well, hardly even notices it’s there.   After some water and food, he chilled out in a wire kennel for a couple hour nap.  He’ll be going to the vet in the morning to get him up-to-date on vaccinations and he is scheduled for his neuter on Thursday.  His personality is very gentle.  He is scared of our tile and laminate flooring but is learning to navigate without slipping and sliding all over.  Will write more as we get to know this beautiful boy.
