Profile

Jack is a RAGOM boy! Life is good. :) Jack came to his foster home yesterday after spending a week with another foster temporarily until we could take him in (THANKS, Jean!!). We were so excited to meet this boy we had only read about.

Jack did not disappoint. What a LOVE! He is as sweet as they come, very obedient and just all around easy to fall head over heels for. :) Jack is a 10-year-old, very handsome, neutered male Golden Retriever. He found his way into RAGOM (along with his housemate Ace 13-120) because his family wanted a better life for him. He had become an outside dog and was only let in the house at night and put in a kennel. We thank his family for loving him enough to make the decision to surrender him to RAGOM so we could give him the life he very much deserves.

Jack loves other dogs (we have 3 residents) and LOVES kids (we have 2 young children and MANY neighborhood kids who love dogs). He loves pretty much everything and everyone. :) Especially tennis balls and people willing to pet him! He is housetrained and is trusted with free roam, he slept quietly on a dog bed next to our bed all night, he knows and responds to basic commands reliably, he doesn't beg for food, or counter surf or get into/chew up anything inappropriate, and he loves to go for walks (pulls at first). Sounds pretty perfect, right? :) It's true.... he's GREAT!

Jack has his vet check coming up on Friday... he seems pretty healthy for a senior dude. He is definitely in need of a diet and exercise plan (he's overweight by approx. 15 lbs). He also has some hair loss on his back and has a poor coat condition. All of these could be indicators of a thyroid problem, or it could just be that he needs better nutrition! We will see what the vet has to say. He also has been panting quiet a bit and it has a raspy sound I am concerned about. However, he is still settling in here and many foster dogs pant their first few days in their new environment. We will get him the full once over and I will report back to his fans.

Jack says: Senior dogs are the best kept secret in RAGOM-land! (Foster Mom agrees.) Thanks for reading! Stay Tuned!
