Profile

Hey Golden Lovers! Meet Jessie!! Jessie was surrendered to RAGOM due to her medical issues. Jessie is a six year old beautifully red Golden Retriever. She has an amazing personality! She is extremely mellow and is extremely affectionate. Her favorite thing it to lean against you and be petted under her chin. She loves every person she meets! She is a lover. The vet said "she has that typical Golden personality"

Jessie gets along well with cats and other dogs. She currently lives with two cats and she also had a cat in her previous home. Yesterday while at the vet Jessie was approached by two different dogs and greeted them each by smelling, never once did Jessie bark or get overly excited. Just a sniff to say hello, no big deal.

Jessie was taken into the vet for a check-up on Tuesday and the vet said she had an ear infection which we are currently treating. She also had a lick spot on her left back leg that is being treated.  Prior to coming into RAGOM we knew that Jessie was diabetic which means that her future forever home needs to be able to give her insulin shots twice a day at the same time each day. Jessie also has a thyroid condition which requires her to take a pill twice a day. And to top it all off Jessie has cataracts and can just barely make out shadows of things in good lighting. We are bringing Jessie to a specialist on April 24th to get her eyes checked out to see if there is anything we can do for Jessie. I will for sure update once that is done.

I know the medical issues can scare some of you away but I have to let you know that despite all of her problems Jessie is very mild mannered. Can you imagine how crabby you would be if you were blind, diabetic, had a thyroid condition, had an ear infection, and were itchy? You can't even tell she may not be feeling well. You really can't get a better temperament than Jessie. I am hoping that with a little TLC Jessie can be her very best self in RAGOM care.

Prior to being with RAGOM Jessie was free fed so she is now adjusting very well to scheduled feedings, which the vet said would help her lose the little bit of weight she needs to. Also we plan to walk her regularly which should also help.

Jessie is very quick to adapt to new situations. She has settled in very quickly already and it didn't take her long to learn the lay out of the house!

This is Jessie settling right in!

Over all Jessie is a great dog that would do great in any home. I have yet to see her around children but her previous owner said she was good with kids and it would really surprise me if she wasn't.

Please contact your placement adviser if you are interested in meeting Jessie!   Check often for new updates!
