We began fostering with RAGOM in July of '07. In that 4 1/2 years we took 18 months off from Fostering when we had our son. We resumed fostering about a year ago and now have our 23rd foster dog with us.... Her name is Lexi.
Lexi came to us from a family who had some major life changes and thought it best to surrender her. It is very obvious from the 5 page write up they sent with her that she was loved very much. We will continue that love for Lexi, for we have decided to adopt her ourselves....
In the last several months we have been discussing the reality and probability of us adopting one of our fosters. But it would have to be one that was 'perfect' for our family. Lexi is that pup. She loves our toddler son (which was most important) and is very sweet and gets along great with our resident golden Lucy.
Lexi will be 4 on April 8th. She has wheat allergies which are controlled with medications and she weighs in at 54#. She does great in our home and our routine.
The only drawback to adopting Lexi is we will no longer be able to foster. Fostering has been so rewarding for us and I encourage anyone who is even thinking about doing it to look into it seriously and you will see exactly what I mean.
We will send in some more pics and one last update on Lexi when her adoption is official.
