Lucy, welcome to RAGOM! Lucy is a purebred Golden Retriever, 4 years old, 70 pounds, spayed, up-to-date on all vaccines, heartworm preventatives and Frontline. She is one beautiful girl with long dark hair!
Lucy came to RAGOM because she began having issues with the other female dog brought into the household and they could no longer reside together. She’s adjusting nicely in our home and is well-mannered, well-trained, and has an overall great disposition.
Observations:
- She loves human contact. When not nudging you to pet her, or rolling over for a tummy rub, she’ll be nearby on the floor quietly resting or chewing a bone.
- Housebroken; stands at the door and barks once when she needs to go out.
- Eats well, is treat-motivated, does not beg at the table.
- Free run of the house when we’re home.
- At night when she’s ready to sleep, she goes into her crate with the door left open or she’ll follow you to the bedroom and sleep on the floor.
- Does very well on car rides.
- Knows the commands "sit," "stay," "come," "off."
- Walks beautifully on a Gentle Leader.
- Rarely barks (has never done so on a walk).
- She’s very calm (except when strangers come to the door).
- Likes to be bathed and brushed, but doesn’t like her nails cut.
- She will sometimes curl up on furniture, but gets off when asked.
- Has shown no separation anxiety, and is crated 1-2 hours at a time when we’re away.
Forever Home Requirements:
- She enjoys our daily walks (3 miles), which should help her regain her girlish figure by shedding 7 pounds, and will need to continue some daily exercise.
- We use a long cable tie-out to actively play fetch with her outside, and since she shouldn’t be left alone outside, we do not think a fence is required.
- She would do best in a home with no other dogs or cats.
Lucy is a very beautiful dog who will thrive in a loving home with lots of attention and routine. She will make someone a wonderful Golden companion!
