11/7/05: Budder is doing beautifully. He isn't showing any signs of separation anxiety from his best buddy, Ben.
We have been lavishing him with attention and he loves it. For a dog that has had an entire farm to roam around on, I think he is adjusting to the "soft life" of being inside very quickly. He has his own soft pillow-bed to lie on in a nice cozy area. We have no other pets so he didn't have anyone else's life to adjust to except ours. He still has a nice sized fenced yard when he needs to tear around.
We took him to the vet today. He had some leftover staples that were removed. He is now UTD with everything he needs, including the microchip. After that, he had a bath and his nails trimmed. Now he's squeaky clean.
One concern is that he does have some skin allergies. The vet called it "elephant skin" in one of the areas but just said to watch how much he was licking & scratching. The bath lady was much more concerned about it. She used a special shampoo on him. She said that the allergies would only get worse and suggested that I call the vet back which I did. He did say that I could start with Benedryl first to see if that would make a difference. We'll probably pick some up tomorrow.
