Paige is a sweet 9 year old GR mix who had a rough start in life. For her first year she belonged to a man who frequently abused her and was one those people who should never have a living animal. At the age of one she was pregnant and kicked out the house. She was surrendered by the owner because “she didn’t play and just laid around all day.” RAGOM took ownership of Paige in 2004. Paige had her puppies and by all account was a wonderful mother. She was then adopted by a wonderful lady and had a happy home for the next 8 years. Unfortunately the owner recently had a stroke and can no longer care for her. Paige was well loved, and very confused by the rapid changes in her life. But once a RAGOM dog always a RAGOM dog and we are now pledged to care for her and make sure she has a good life. She carries some baggage from her first year such as being cautious around new people until she trusts them and then is fine. But despite her rough beginning she has a kind heart and in the right home would be a great dog.

UPDATE - August 13, 2012

Paige arrived at her foster home on Aug 11 and was understandably nervous. But she knew her FM and FD since we had visited her in boarding. After three days she has settled in nicely and is very comfortable in her new home. This foster home is probably the kind of home Paige would do well in. Two older adults with no kids, no other dog, and no cat. Both of us are retired so someone is home most of the day. Generally a quiet place without a lot confusion. Here’s what we know so far.

  • Most importantly for us, Paige is completely house broken.
  • She has a VERY high prey drive for squirrels and you need to be cautious introducing her to other dogs.
  • She loves her walks and does very well on a flat collar lease.
  • She is not a Velcro dog and her favorite spot is by the front hall window on her bed watching life go by.
  • She is very sweet us, loves patting and is a very low maintenance dog.

As we get to know her better I think more of the real Paige will come out. Right now I can tell you she is a very contented dog.
