Ricki is a sweet Golden puppy at a critical age of social and behavioral development. It is imperative she be socialized to people and dogs to learn what is socially or behaviorally expected as she matures in your home. Obedience training is just one element in this environment to help guide socially acceptable behavior.
This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

06/08/2017:

Ricki 17-117 is a ten-week-old female who is one of eight purebred Golden Retriever puppies brought into rescue from a Kansas breeder. Ricki had her wellness checkup and was given her age-appropriate vaccinations. Her stool check was negative for any parasites, and she has been microchipped. She is recovering from a respiratory infection and is doing very well. She seems to need to have her ears cleaned weekly. She weighed in at 20.2 pounds and is all puppy legs. She will be spayed later in June.

Ricki is a calm, gentle, loving, and happy puppy who loves to play with her one-year-old Golden foster brother. She chases the cat, but more to play than for prey. She loves to meet other people and has been good around children. She loves to run and play in the yard and likes to “garden” a bit. She is a typical puppy who will need patience, training, and love. She kennels during the day, but being a puppy, she will need a plan to make sure she gets a potty break every four hours. She is doing well on potty training, but she still is a puppy, so expect accidents. Puppies eat three times a day, just like humans, so a plan must be in place to give her lunch, which is very important to her growing body.

Ricki is a little snuggle bug and loves belly rubs, especially when she wakes up in the morning. She sleeps through the night, but loves to sleep with humans. She goes to sleep around 9:30 PM and does not wake until 6:00 AM. When she wakes, she rolls over for belly rubs and eases into the day. She plays with toys, loves to go on long walks, enjoys time in the water at the lake, and travels well in a car. She likes to snack on sugar snap peas, baby carrots, zucchini, frozen sweet potato strips, and blueberries.

Puppies are a lot of work, and much like a newborn, they require observation and guidance as they explore and grow. Puppies chew, so they must have many chew-appropriate toys as options and all puppy-interesting items must be removed from their reach. Obedience training is a must, as it is a necessary tool for both of you, as well as a bonding experience for communicating in positive ways. She is an eager learner and has already learned to “sit” and “come.” She is working on “stay” and “leave it.”
