Profile
Sully has been here a few days and this is what we see. He is a taller boy with long legs and he weighs about 74 pounds. He is a pretty red color and has a very sweet disposition. Sully is a pure-bred golden and he is about 1.5 years old.
Sully was given up by a very loving family that did not have enough time to give him the attention they felt he deserved. He has been well taken care of and his family sent along his crate, pillow, blanket, his toys and his food bowl. They want this transition to be as easy for him as possible.
Sully met my 6 year old Golden Riley like he'd known him all his life and they started to play and then Riley remembered that he needs to be in charge and decided he couldn't play. Even though Riley has decided to be stuck up and won't play, Sully doesn't seem to mind and has let Riley have his space. Sully knows his doggie manners. So Sully would do fine in a home with other dogs.
Sully does good with my two children ages 5 and 8. He has never lived with older children only babies. He sometimes does not know his size and has walked right into my 5 year old like he is not even there. So I feel he would do best in a home without toddlers but children over 5 would be fine. My 5 year old is used to the dogs so it did not scare him but it may scare some smaller children.
We all went for a walk yesterday and Sully was not thrilled with the gentle leader but once he got used to it did great. He was very nice to walk with. We met a puppy on the way (4 month old beagle) and he met her very gently and did not overwhelm her. It was very cute!
Sully has never met a cat so we don't know how he would be with them.
Sully loves tennis balls and has been carrying them around since he got here. (At this house we buy them in bulk :) ) He loves to retrieve and in the evening he keeps bringing us balls or toys to throw for him.
Sully has never had formal obedience training but is very well behaved. Has calmed down as he has been here longer, and I feel he will make someone a wonderful family pet! We go to the vet soon, he appears healthy but we will know more after that!
