Meet Vic (formerly known as Mac), a 4-year-old Golden mix. He is a smaller dog weighing 42 lbs with dark gold coloring. He has the intense and marbled eyes of an Aussie (Australian Shepherd)--one eye is marbled blue. He is a gorgeous little hunk. He is neutered and up to date on all his vaccinations.

Vic is the sweetest dog ever. His previous owner adopted him from RAGOM when he was 6 months old, and she just made the heart-wrenching decision to surrender him due to personal health issues. It is evident that he was very loved. He is easy-going, happy, steady, and well-behaved. The owner did a beautiful job with his training. He has excellent recall and is attentive and responsive to my directions. And the best part--did I mention that he is a complete love bug?

He LOVES to go for walks and get exercise. We walk several times a day and he does great on a leash. If the other 2 resident dogs are out in front of him, he does pull a little wanting to catch up to them. He is a clown when he is outside playing and he will tease the other dogs and try to get them to chase him. If he grabs their Frisbee or ball, it is good natured and he will drop it if they come for it. When we get back in the house he settles down immediately.

Vic is crate trained but the previous owner only used the crate when she was gone for long periods of time (not often). He has had free roam of the house since he arrived and there have not been any issues at all. He does fine with cats. The previous owner said he is great with children of all ages. I will test him out with a family member’s toddler in the next few days. My neighbor (an older gentleman) stopped over today and Vic barked along with the resident dogs when they heard the car pull up. He greeted the neighbor appropriately, followed him to the kitchen and then laid down next to him. He is such a gem of a dog—so easy.

Vic is used to having a fenced yard, but he is doing great here going out on a leash to do his business. If he gets plenty of exercise and opportunities to play, ie at dog parks, he will not require a house with a fenced yard. Vic will need a person or family that can give him consistent exercise such as long walks and throwing a ball/Frisbee. He is super intelligent and attentive, so agility classes would be awesome to physically and mentally challenge and stimulate him. He is REALLY smart, and sweet!
