There are two things we’ve learned Amber loves more than anything—snow and smiling!
This little girl has decided that when it comes to snow, the deeper the better. Thanks to the many snowstorms over the past month, she is constantly pestering her foster momma to let her into the backyard so she can go bounding through the drifts. Amber also has made it her personal goal to eat as much snow as possible before it all melts.
As for smiling, that is the best development yet! She has blossomed into a happy, gleeful, and goofy puppy with tail wags and toothy-grins to boot. What a growth since first being rescued, no more tail between the legs.
Her newest activities include looking out the sunroom window with her foster sisters (security is a top priority, protecting the house from squirrels and birds), stealing toys proudly from the toy bin (and hoarding them on the couch), and of course the continued love of naps.
Amber recently spent 10 days with a RAGOM dogsitter, and despite being nervous at first, did a really great job adjusting to the new setting. Goals for the month of March include obedience training—working on sit, lay down, and come—all to better prepare her for her forever family. Will you and your dog welcome little Amber into your home? Amber had a good time at her first RAGOM meet and greet today, meeting lots of new doggie friends, and maybe her forever family! She was a very brave girl, letting everyone pet her, even taking some treats from strangers - which never would have happened even just a month ago.
At home she is thriving, showing her resident sisters and parents what a goof ball she is.
Amber still shows some fear around men between 25-35 years old, but any younger or older and she warms up to them easily. Over the holidays she was so comfortable with visiting men in their 50’s+ that they became her official napping buddies!
She has learned the joy of chewing a new toy, hoarding bones on the couch, and of course is thoroughly enjoying the snowfall in the backyard. She is waiting everyday to meet her forever family- a fun house with a confident dog who can continue to help her grow and love her new golden life. Could you be Ambers new family?

To think we’ve only been fostering Amber for a little over 1.5 months is amazing. She has made such progress, I’m not sure I would have believed it was possible given the scared, shaking little girl that was dropped off at our house in early October.
Amber loves to run outside, play and hoard toys, cuddle on the couch, and has a normal doggie schedule of eating and going outside for potty breaks. She has even learned how to go to the door and whine when she needs to go out (which is rarely—she must have a very large bladder).
Her only caveat is running back to her “safe spot” on the couch after being outside, and she is still hesitant to cross over the doorway threshold back into the house. She still needs some time to learn that coming back inside isn’t scary.
Amber has also discovered the joy of a good head scratch, ear scratch, and cuddling on the bed late into the morning. Her foster parents are impressed at how long she can “hold it” in order to get a few more winks in each morning on the bed. She is quite the cuddle bug for sure.
Closed to Applications: Many families have submitted applications for Amber or she is working with an applicant for a potential adoption. We are no longer accepting applications for Amber.
