This is Angelina! Her nickname is "Angelina Ballerina" due to her petite frame. She is the youngest of the most recent group of dogs to come from Turkey. She is a very sweet puppy that likes attention but also loves to run around and expend energy. | |||||

Introducing Angelina! She is one of the dogs from the most recent group coming from Turkey. Here is a little tidbit from the volunteer who was able to take care of her after she arrived in America for the long car ride back from the airport in Chicago:
" With passport attached, Angelina , age 10 months , was the baby of the Turkey Dog rescue on April 28th. Born in June 2016, this scrawny little puppy had a rough start. I can’t imagine how scared this little girl was to travel nearly 10,000 kilometers from Istanbul, Turkey to Chicago, Illinois for more than 12 hours. In he r brief life she already faced near death, as she was severely undernourished when she came into a local rescue in Turkey. Upon arrival, she was met by more than 20 volunteers who went above and beyond to meet her with love and care, and tell her that they would take care of her and provide a wonderful life for her in America.
Her frame reminds me of a newborn deer, although her rescuers in Turkey thought she res embled a baby goat who hops around.
Although Angelina has a delicate frame like a ballerina, hence her nickname Angelina Ballerina, she possesses a spirited, sweet personality. Throughout her six hour road trip to Minneapolis, she enjoyed being held in the volunteers’ laps and sleeping next to Forrest, a rambunctious four-year-old who had survived living in a Istanbul forest. Angelina did allow Forrest to rule the roost for the car ride. Once at RAGOM headquarters, everybody wanted to adore the little girl who just wanted to be adored.
All of the Turkey Dog volunteers who know what a rough start Angelina experienced and did everything they could to make her feel secure and safe, know Angelina will find a forever home that will love her and help her grow and flourish in America ."
What have we found out about her since she has been here in America? She had her first visit at the vet and she is healthy other than needing to put on some weight. Her stool sample check, along with her heartworm/tick disease screen came back negative! She should not be in a house with cats. Her prey drive is just to high. She is crate/kennel trained and does keep it clean when she is in it. We are gone for a normal work day of 8 hours and she has not had an accident in her kennel. She is pretty much potty trained! Although she has had two accidents in the house it was because we didn't know her signs of needing to go out. She gets pretty antsy and paces quite a bit letting us know she needs to go out. When she goes outside she prances around as stated above, like a goat. It's pretty funny to watch! She pulls on a leash some but with some training she will be great! She gets along well with other dogs and would probably benefit from having another dog in the home, although it isn't required for adoption. She has a lot of puppy energy to burn off which is easily taken care of with another dog that likes to play! She does require a fence taller than 4 feet and it needs to be a privacy fence as she can jump/climb a 4ft chain link fence. We have her on a mixture right now of bland diet canned food and puppy food so she can gain some weight. She does have a small frame so she doesn't have a lot of weight to gain, maybe a few pounds.
She is still a puppy and she will get in to things! She hasn't chewed on anything crazy though. The house just needs to be kept clean, things off the floor and keep a watchful eye on her. She loves balls! A Kong is also something she likes to chew on to keep her busy! She's a cute little girl looking for her forever home!
