Welcome Annie of Alabama into RAGOMland! She arrived on Saturday night along with Tyson and Penny. Annie is a petite Golden mix with super soft fur, a cute black nose, and dark eyeliner. She weighs about 50 pounds and is constantly looking for any spare food. She acts closer to 1 than 2, with lots of energy. She was vetted and spayed before coming into RAGOM. She has a growth under her chin due to a clogged saliva duct, which will be evaluated in the next week to see if surgery is needed.

She likes to take brief naps and will relax when in a room by herself. I still haven’t figured out if she is nervous around the other dogs or wants to be the dominant one. A couple of times, she has lunged after the boys (resident Tyson and Tyson 14-248) when they get to close to her or walk over her. She likes to snuggle and have her belly scratched. She takes treats well. She goes into her kennel, barks a bit, and then settles in during the night until morning. She knows "sit" and we are working on her to not jump on people or the counters. She is going to be at the Edina meet-and-greet on Saturday, so come check out if you have felt fur any softer than hers.

Monday, Annie had surgery to remove the blocked saliva duct, called sialocele. She came out of like a trooper. She is on pain, anti-inflammatory, and antibiotic meds for a couple of weeks. She wears a neck bandage to protect the area and help her skin to not sag anymore - a little cosmetic work for Ms Annie. Thanks to Dr R and the vet staff who performed the surgery! Even working with our vets who give special discounts for rescue, her medical care is far greater than the adoption fee. Please consider donating or sponsoring Annie by going to www.ragom.org or http://ragom.org/donations/donations.html.

She is such a super sweet girl. She thinks she needs special treatment after her spa/surgery day, so sleeping in our bed seems to cure all of her pain and whining at night. Annie eats very well, all her food and will cruise the other bowls looking for leftovers. She sits for treats and takes them gently. We have tried various fruits and veggies with only bananas and watermelon fitting her palette.

We believe she loves her humans and would be fine living without another dog. Since she was a stray and only partially knows her name, we recommend her adoptive family have a fence. She is probably fine on a tie-out or walking for potty breaks. We continue to work on not jumping up on us, counters, and some furniture. This last week, she has become more fond of various chew toys and playing by herself.

Annie will be at the Shakopee meet-and-greet on Saturday.
