Profile

Archie has arrived, all the way from South Dakota.  Whew - what a long ride!  Thanks to Beth for keeping him comfortable during the first half of his journey.  Since he just arrived late this afternoon, we'll have to get to know him better so we can tell you all about him.  In the meantime, here's what we do know:

  • 3.5 year old male, approximately 68 pounds which is good for his size
  • Handsome!
  • LOVES attention and wants to be close to humans
  • Handsome!
  • He was not exposed to other dogs much but is doing well with our 2 resident goldens
  • Handsome!
  • Cat tested and approved - He used to live with one!
  • Handsome!
  • He used to live with a 2 year old although he might do better with more dog savvy kids or older kids
  • Did I mention he is HANDSOME?

Stay tuned for more information as we get to know Archie better!

Hey peeps, it's Archie here!

Guess what?  I found a very loving family that wants me to be with them for the rest of my golden life...can you believe it?  My new mom and dad think I'm really handsome (of course), my new human brother will be GReat to run and play ball with and my new human sister will dress me up in feather boa's and invite me to tea parties, isn't that just GREAT!??!  I hope she serves cookies at her parties:-)  Oh, and did I mention I have a new furrbutt brother?  Yep, we've kinda been through some of the same stuff cuz he's a RAGOM dog too!  His name is Jack (09-065) and we're going to be the best of friends.

My journey to my forever home was a pretty quick one (at least that's what FM said).  I was sad to have left my original family who loved me very much but I KNOW they will be happy for me cuz my forever family ROCKS!  I get to roam free in the house with Jack, sleep just about anywhere that I want, go outside to my big fenced-in yard (wow, my grass is really green), and be showered with hugs and kisses every single day for the rest of my golden life!

As I'm settling into my new digs, I'm so grateful to find my new forever home and I'll keep my paws crossed for my fellow RAGOM friends in the hopes that they find a perfect family just like I did.

Woof!

Big Arch (that's what my family calls me - he, he...I like it)

It's story time - and maybe there's some cookies in that bowl!

Archie and Jack

Hey, you look just like me - we MUST be brothers!

I'm so happy to have found my forever family.
Can't you tell by my beautiful golden smile?

My human sister likes to dress Jack up for tea parties and cookies (here's proof).
Hmmmm, maybe she can just give me the cookies?

Hi everyone Archie here, thought I'd give you an update on how I'm doing.

The first couple days here I was a little nervous and followed FM around the house.  She says I was probably experiencing separation anxiety from my original family who loved me dearly.  It was hard on them to give me up but they wanted me to have a yard to run in and someone that could spend more time with me since they had a 2 year old and another baby on the way.

I hadn't been exposed to other dogs much but I really LOVE to play with the two resident dogs here.  Especially the girl named Jayden (09-023).  We like to wrestle a lot and chase each other in the backyard until we're both pooped out.  Jayden really likes this game called "ball"...I'm not sure why yet but FM thinks I'll eventually learn to like it too.  I really like to go on walks and FM says I'm GREAT on a flat leash.  I might pull a little initially because I'm so excited to get going but once we're on our way, I don't pull at all.  I've had free roam in the house since I've arrived in my foster home and have had no accidents or chewed anything that I shouldn't.  This past weekend, I was one of the celebrities at a RAGOM event and I did fantastic - or at least, that's what FM said.  She even thinks I would make a good therapy dog some day like my foster brother Jake.  My foster family also hosted a dog party and we had 6 dogs playing in the backyard including a little puppy (see the picture - I'm the handsome one in the red scarf).  It was a GReat time and I got along GReat with all of them!

Here's a bunch of things that FM & FD have learned about me:

  • I'd like to have another big dog in my home to wrestle with.  If not, can you make sure I get to have play dates?
  • I love to snuggle
  • I like to "alert" bark to let everyone know that company is here or to say "hi" to a neighboring dog but I stop when I'm told, "that's enough".
  • I can sit and lay down when told and I only jump up on the bed when I'm invited.  I also respond quickly to "down".
  • At feeding time, I sit nicely and wait until I'm told, "okay" and only then do I start eating my food.
  • I'm still pretty excitable so I have to be really tired in order to get my ears cleaned but it's nothing a nice long walk won't cure
  • I'm still not so sure what I'm supposed to do with toys (it was hard to determine which toys were mine and which were the 2 year old's so I didn't get to play with them much).  Jayden will bring me toys - but right now, I just sniff them.

Well that's all for now, I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine!  Please let your placement advisor know if you'd like to make me a permanent part of your GReat family!

Woof!  Archie
