Beatty is a beautiful, gentle, sweet boy that came all the way from Turkey. We believe he lived with a family at some point. He hasn't had a single accident in our house and will let you know when he needs to go outside. He is very well mannered, is only destructive with stuffed toys, doesn't jump up, rides well in the car, seeks out attention and is always excited to see you.

Beatty met our two resident dogs with no troubles. He doesn't really know how to play with them and mostly just watches to see what they are doing. Beatty also doesn't really understand the concept of fetch. Once he gets a toy he really doesn't want to give it up unless you have something better to offer him. He is also an expert at begging for human food. He is VERY food motivated.

Beatty is neutered, is heartworm negative, and has had all his shots. We are watching some abnormal lab results and will update that when we know more. His hind legs are a little tight and he is pretty slow going up stairs. We do take him on walks for about 3/4 of a mile and he does pretty well. He does pretty well on a leash. Beatty loves to go outside and roll around in the grass, but his favorite activity is following his people around.

Beatty was rescued from the country of Turkey in April, he then lived with his foster family in Sioux Falls, SD that took such great care of him. Beatty’s name has now changed to Aspen. He has had the name Beatty since April but he pretty much responds to anything and stays by your side. He is the most loving dog I know and I’m so fortunate we found each other.

Aspen loves to go to the lake. He hasn’t quite realized that his whole body can go in the lake but he let the water reach his belly and he enjoys the cool water; his thick, white coat can be hot in the summer! He also loves attention. Whenever I come home he’s at the top of the stairs profusely waging his tail, with his ears perked back like he can’t help but have a big smile on his face. Aspen is not only the most loving dog, he is also extremely loyal, he certainly knows who his mama is and stays by my side! He is so friendly to humans, mostly because he’s looking for anyone to give him a massage, but not too fond of other dogs and their barking. He certainly isn’t mean to other dogs, he just finds them annoying and ignores them.

Aspen has my heart and has easily become my best friend! Huge thank you to R.A.G.O.M. and his foster family for giving me the opportunity to be his mom :-)

Beatty is doing fantastic.  He is so funny and cute!  He is always the first one at the door to greet us when we come home and is always wagging.

We have discovered that Beatty really, really likes water bottles.  Any chance he gets he will "steal" one when we aren't looking and try to hide it for later.  He has taught us to be a little more careful with what we have sitting on the end table!
He loves to spend time outside rolling in the grass and really enjoys watching the other dogs play.  Beatty continues to be an easy going cuddle bug.

Beatty has been a busy guy the past few weeks. He got to go to a wonderful volunteer's house for the weekend while Foster Mom and Dad went out of town. He met a couple of new dogs and had a great weekend.

The next weekend we had a house full of guests and Beatty had so much fun. He loved all the extra activity and attention. He even got to go on a couple of extra walks. He also made it to another meet and greet. He met a lot of nice people and loved all the attention. After all that he enjoyed a nice nap.

Here are the things Beatty loves:

  • Food and treats
  • Toys - all kinds
  • Soft beds and daily walks; he is up to a half mile at a time.

Beatty is a handsome, sweet dog who loves to be around his people. He is the happiest dog we have ever met. He is also super mellow and calm.

Beatty has had a couple of very busy weeks. First of all he attended his second meet and greet this summer. He was a big hit with everyone he met, both people and dogs at least until the downpour ended the event early.

Beatty also got to do a little traveling to Nebraska for a weekend. It was an exiting trip with a lot of new experiences. First of all Beatty got to go to a softball game. He was more exited to explore the ground for potential snacks instead of watching the game. He did let out a couple of deep booming barks during the game when the ball hit the backstop. The umpire thought he had a pretty good strike call. Beatty also got to meet kids of all ages from 4-13. He did really well with all of them. There were also squirrels to chase out of the yard. He isn't quite quick enough to catch them, but he does a good job of patrolling. As you can tell from the picture that trip tired him out.

Beatty enjoyed his first Independence Day in the US. He wasn't really bothered by the fireworks except for the really loud ones. He did come to us for pets when those happened, but wasn't overly upset.

It always amazes me how happy Beatty is. He is always smiling and wagging his tail. He is a total sweetheart and is going to make a family very happy.

Sorry for the late update on Beatty. First of all Beatty is doing great! He is the happiest dog I have ever met and is always smiling and wagging. He went to the vet last week to have some levels rechecked. The good news is that after a month of medication one test came back normal, the second test came back lower, but just a little higher than normal. Beatty will need to take a pill everyday to make sure his kidneys are functioning normally. If you tuck it in to a treat he gladly takes it with no problem.

Beatty's personality is really coming out. He loves to be in the middle of all the action to find out what is going on. He LOVES treats and toys! Beatty still hasn't really played with our two resident dogs but is very curious and likes to watch them wrestle around.

Beatty did finally play fetch last week! He brought the ball back a couple of times and then decided this is a silly game and decided to chew on the ball instead of chase it. Beatty loves to go for car rides too.

He is completely house broken, no accidents.

We also discovered last week the Beatty has some prey drive. He found a baby bird in the back yard, he didn't attack it but did follow it around and was very interested. We were able to get the bird to a dog free location before any feathers were lost. He also saw a squirrel in the park from a fairly long distance and really perked up.

Things Beatty will need in his forever home: Lots of attention Short daily walks A fence Help getting into a vehicle. Someone to cuddle with him.

Beatty is a great dog who just requires a little attention. He will make a family very happy.
