Greetings! My name is Axel 17-036.

I am a male 9 month old English Cream Golden Retriever. I was introduced to the wonderful RAGOM life a few weeks ago. For some reason, I was having a hard time figuring out where to go potty and often had lots of accidents in the house. My owners took me to the vet several times to try and figure out why I was doing this and to see if I had some sort of medical issue. Turns out the veterinarians could not find a cause and thought it might just be behavioral. Tearfully, my owners surrendered me to RAGOM in hopes another family would have better luck addressing this issue. So now here I am in Fargo, ND with my new foster family. Things have been going good since I got here. They have a resident Golden who I just LOVE to play with. We could play tug-of-war for hours! My foster mom says I play very nice with her and can share all the toys and neither one of us gets grumpy. I would really love a fur playmate in my new adoptive home to burn some of this puppy energy off. We both wear each other out! In the first few days I was here my foster family took me to the Vet. I am all up to date with my vaccinations. I weighed in at 59 lbs and the vet said I am a very healthy puppy! I did have a small ear infection and the vet gave me some medication and that is almost cleared up.

A few things about me:

I really love food! I have not learned yet that it is NOT OK to take other peoples food. If I see an opportunity I may try and steal a hot dog off a plate or take a big bite of a salad if my foster family is not looking. Working on my manners is still a work in progress. Now on to that potty issue....Since I have been at my foster home I have had only 1 accident. I have been watching that resident dog and every time she goes to the door they take her outside. I decided that I might as well try that too! Now, I even throw a whine in there every once in a while to let them know I mean business and they jump to their feet and BINGO I am outside. Keep in mind I am only 9 months old but, I feel like I am really on the right track about where I should be going potty and my foster family says they are so proud of me and my success. My foster mom said I am a quick learner and eager to please. I even learned to shake in just a few minutes and (a few treats). So now when I meet my new adoptive family I can greet you with a firm paw shake. During the day my foster family puts me in my kennel while my foster mom works a few hours in the morning. I don't mind my kennel, I actually kind of like it. I usually sleep in my kennel at night but started sleeping on the dog beds as I have proven I won't mess around during the night. I am an early riser...6:30 to be exact. I am ready for my breakfast so be ready for kisses to help wake you up and you can get that ready for me! I have also been known to carry shoes, hats, rags, stuffed animals, really anything that looks interesting to me around the house. There are 3 kids that live in this house and their rooms are full of fun stuff to play with. I often have to be told NO when I take some of their items, remember I am just a kid myself. Things have been pretty good around here if I do say so myself but, foster mom said she wants to add her input so I guess I will turn this over to her....

Axel is a typical puppy. He has a lot of puppy energy and will often run around the house full throttle. He will jump up to greet you so we are working on the down command. He loves to play with our resident Golden and plays very appropriately. I think he would do best with a playmate in his new home or a home that he would have his people around most of the time to keep him occupied. When bored or unsupervised he will get into mischief. Axel is a very loving puppy. He does not rough play or mouth. He loves attention and will take every opportunity to come lay with you on the couch. Axel will be a wonderful addition to a family that is committed to obedience training, has lots of patience, and oodles of love. If that family is you Axel would love to meet you!!
