It is with a broken heart that I do the final update on our sweet Bailey. On 8/6/12, with her FM and FD by her side, we helped our sweet girl to the Rainbow Bridge. Her health started going downhill this summer and we decided it was time to set her free. This is never an easy decision and we would gladly have continued to carry her down the stairs and pick up her "little gifts" in the house, but her eyes told us she was tired and that her 16-1/2 year old body was ready to be at rest. After all those years, she deserved to leave with her dignity in tact. She came to us as a foster but it didn't take long for us to know that she didn't need to be moved again. Her home was with us. While I don't know what the first 12 years of her life were like, I hope that she felt our love over the last 4 years. I was never able to get her to kiss my face (at least not without peanut butter smeared on it) and she still curled her lip when I kissed her face. I like to believe she was just playing hard to get. And so many inappropriate items were eaten..... dog beds, comforters, blankets!! We spent many nights out in the yard forcing her to drink the "magic drink" to make those items come up! How I miss the clickity clack of her toenails on the kitchen floor and the spark in her eye when I was boiling spagetti! It was her favorite treat and I came close to losing a finger many times when feeding it to her. She saw several fosters come and go and even a couple that just came and STAYED! She tolerated it all like a trooper. So, go to the bridge little girl where your legs will regain strength and you will again be able to see clearly and without confusion. Your time with us was much to short but we treasure every minute of it. Please give Bella, Brooklyn, Summit and Valerie our love and we look foward to the day we will all be together again. Our lives were truly blessed the day you came to us. |
