Benjamin has been adopted by a loving family that includes a retiree, two dogs, and cats. Sometime, granddogs come over and they share their passion for tennis balls and a large yard full of interesting sniffing. Also, a country home to visit with horses and many acres to explore with the family.

His vision issues will be closely monitored and adaptations made as needed. His vision is stable for now while on an anti-inflammatory eye drop.

Have a wonderful Golden Life, Benjamin!

Love,

Your foster family

Benjamin entered foster with an unknown future. He appeared to be blind in the left eye and starting to become blind in the right eye. No medical information was available from his owner except a rabies certificate.

A community of vets cared for him with this pressing concern. It was the weekend, and he was in pain and in a strange home. His anxiety level was increasing.

On Sunday, an off-duty vet examined his eyes. No ulcers were seen, but the edema in his internal eyes was too much to examine further. Precautions were taken and prophylactic eye medications given. Referral was made to an eye specialist.

After a few visits and med changes, glaucoma and cataracts were ruled out and uveitis determined to be the cause for white clouds over Benjamin's eyes.

Since prednisolone eye drops started, the clouds have diminished. No more squinting and and bumping into everything. He is enjoying a normal dog life. Everyone Benjamin meets calls him a "sweet Golden."

He has adjusted to the foster family as wel as the resident dogs and cats. He has a soft mouth when taking treats from children and adults alike. Benjamin is Velcro, but not overly dependent.

Finally, the ophthalmologist gave the OK for the neuter and the dental exam with the molar extraction. Benjamin is enjoying food so much more with the bad tooth out of there.

Soon, it will be time to find the forever family that is willing to continue daily eye medication and regular checkups.

Benjamin has an irresistible smile and the cutest cowlick on his snout.
