A wonderful family traveled 5 hours to meet our sweet foster Buddy and he has been adopted. His Mom and Dad are retired and able to devote their time to him. Buddy's days of traveling on his own are over (one of the reasons for surrendering to RAGOM). He will join his Mom and Dad on their site-seeing road trips. Buddy will have 3 homes - what a lucky boy!! He'll have a resident home, a lake cabin to enjoy the water during the summer and Buddy will learn what it's like to be a snow bird as he'll spend the harsher winter months in AZ hiking trails, meeting new people and enjoying the sunshine. Buddy's love for people is abundant and his forever Mom and Dad have abundant love and time to give him. Buddy's dreams have come true - a life filled with human love and devotion!!

Buddy is doing FANTASTIC!!! His mouth has healed up from the removal of 5 of his teeth. He's eating dry food again and loving it. Buddy is also gaining weight which is so good to see since he came into RAGOM not in the best of shape. You can now say his name while he's eating and he'll not stop. He'll look up at you, but keeps on eating. We no longer have to tell him 'down' if he stands up in front of us because he doesn't do it anymore. Buddy is one smart doggie - he learns so fast.
Buddy likes to wear hats and he told Foster Dad he loves the Vikings. Foster Dad is so happy to have another Viking fan in the home.
We took Buddy on a 250 mile road trip last week. He's such a joy to travel with as he does so well in the car. He had take-out (cheeseburger) from a small town Cafe, took in all the sniffies at local parks along the way and even tried out a park Merry-Go-Round minus the spinning. The owner of the Cafe came out to the car to meet Buddy and to learn about RAGOM since they have a Golden too.
Buddy continues to be the perfect boy. He's pure love - loves people, car rides, walks, snuggling, watching me do everything and tennis balls. Buddy has shown no interest in jumping our fence and hasn't since the day he arrived. Good Boy Buddy!!!

Buddy was neutered on Wednesday and while he was under anesthesia for his neuter the vet removed 5 upper front teeth. I had noticed blood spots on his tennis balls so I had the vet check his teeth and gums to see what was going on. It was found that Buddy's gum line had been pushed upward to the point it was exposing the nerves. He has very healthy teeth so the vet feels something traumatic had happened to him to push the gums up so far and only effecting his front 5 teeth. We don't know if this happened when he was hit by a car or if something else happened to him. We also took in a stool sample and he's now Hookworm free - Whoopie!! With his sore teeth removed and the worms gone he's eating like a horse and should gain weight. He did start licking his incision area so we tried the cone and he was able to get that off. We then tried a t-shirt backwards to make pants and when he woke us up for his 2 am potty (he's still on Prednisone which makes him potty more) he had already gotten them off. Maybe he knew he needed them off to go potty??? Because he's experienced the cone and pants he knows licking is a no-no and he's stopped. Otherwise he's been doing really good during his recoup time. Gets a little antsy to play ball, but I vary my house work (company is coming) and that seems to interest him. He really does love to spend his day watching what ever his human is doing. Plus we take short walks and have a lot of floor time together.
Buddy is a moaner, groaner and somewhat of a talker. His talking always includes a ball in his mouth as he gets so excited when it's time to go outside or go for a walk. Buddy likes to take a ball with him on his walks, but I've noticed he enjoys his walks more so without the ball. He'll drop the ball when he goes potty and you need to remind him to 'get your ball' when he's ready to move on again (this is a good time for you to pick it up and carry it). Sometimes he'll just drop it on the sidewalk and that's my que to carry it for him. He has me trained well :-)
I've changed Buddy's requirements to include a physical fence. Even though he has the ability to jump a fence it does give him a safe place to play fetch, run, stretch his legs, spend time with his family and most importantly it will also protect him from any male dogs that could wonder into an unfenced yard. Buddy isn't a good candidate for dog parks because male dogs are in attendance there. This could change as time goes by, but for now he still needs a 'female only dog' family if there is another dog in the home. Buddy did ask me to find him a forever home with trees, bushes and large plants. He's made it very clear to us that male dogs need those growing things and the lack of such things in our yard are the reason for our many walks. We do have one bush and while he'll use it 'it's not the bush of choice'. He'd also like as many tennis balls has his furry foster sister, but I told him that was an insane number and that his forever family will provide him with ample tennis balls. Buddy's perfect home would include -Stay at home family member/work from the home or work part time.Ability to be on furniture/human beds - he loves laying on the couch and his snuggle time with you in bed.Family that loves to play fetch.A bucket of balls and a Chuck-It :-)
Trips to the park - having him tethered to you so he can run/sniff in the open spaces.Someone that is looking for a total companion dog. Buddy reminds me of a farm dog - always with his owner going every where.Car rides - even if there is no need to go somewhere in the car he'd love a ride in the car. If he feels he's not had his share of riding time he'll lead you to the car when your heading out for a walk. Buddy does love to stick his nose out the window while riding
