Welcome Ms. Cassidy to RAGOM!  Cassidy came to our home about five weeks ago.  She is a one year old female Golden Retriever with a gorgeous dark red coat and an adorable "zipper"  cowlick down her nose.  When Cassidy first arrived, she was nervous and skittish.  She didn't know how to act in a home environment.  Thanks to our two outgoing Goldens, she has quickly learned the great things that come with living inside, like comfy dog beds and the endless amounts of toys that we have here!  Since she had previously lived outdoors, Cassidy is not yet housebroken, although she is doing better every day.  She still has accidents occasionally, but she's doing better every week.  She doesn't currently know any commands, but we are working on them every day.

Although Cassidy is young and seems very social around my two dogs, she does revert back to a shy and nervous girl when there are strangers involved and when my dogs aren't around.  She definitely turns to them for reassurance, so we are currently requiring her to have another large sized, confident dog in her forever home.  Cassidy would love a playmate, but it's not absolutely necessary, as she is just as happy to play with her people as she is another dog.  We are also requiring a fenced in yard at this time, mostly due to her background as a breeder dog and the possibility that she could be a flight risk if she got spooked.  She has been doing well and she is always ready to come back inside after I let her out, so that requirement could possibly change as we get to know her more and her personality really starts to shine.  Cassidy has been exposed to cats and shows zero interest in them.  She has also been around kids from 5 years on up.  She does great with all of them!  Ms. Cass is learning how to destroy stuffed toys from our puppy, Sully, and she is learning that there is a difference between dog toys and household items!  I do not trust Cassidy with free roam (both due to potty training and destructive "puppy" behavior.)  Cassidy has shown no anxieties and is fine with thunderstorms.  Now that she is comfortable in our house, we are starting to see the true Cassidy emerge.  She has the sweetest personality and just wants someone to love and pet her.  When she wags her tail, her whole body wiggles!  She is a very nice dog and one of our favorite fosters to date!

Cassidy has had a negative fecal and heartworm test.  She had been vaccinated for rabies prior to coming into RAGOM, but she has not gotten her other vaccinations yet.  She will get those prior to adoption.  Cassidy weighed in at 49 pounds at her vet visit.  We are guessing her ideal weight to be right around 50 pounds at this time.  She is a petite Golden!  She will also be spayed in late May, at which time she will be available for adoption.  That doesn't mean, of course, that she can't meet with a potential family and be adoption pending before that time!  If you are interested in this sweet girl, please contact RAGOM today!Cassidy16008c4.jpg

Cassidy is doing well in her foster home! She is enjoying the resident dogs and has started to play a lot more with them.

Cassidy attended her first meet and greet. She did a great job and spread a lot of love around to the visitors!

We have been going to our lake home and Cassidy loves running around in the yard, chewing sticks and hunting for little creatures in the wood piles.
Cassidy has had a lot of interest in her but we are still waiting for the right family for her. She has a lot of puppy mill behaviors. She can be timid with new situations. She also has a high prey drive. She watches everything and will chase after a bird or squirrel. For this reason and a few others I am requiring Cassidy to have a fenced in yard in her forever home. She also has trouble with a leash; she is getting better with the leash but will not take care of her business when she is on a leash. We are taking her for regular walks each day and she can go 3 miles. She can get fearful when a car goes by her so you need to be ready just in case she tries to bolt.
Cassidy loves all people, big and little. She will get right in your face and give kisses. This may be a little too much for a small child. For now we would like her forever home to have older children, maybe 8-10 years old. This may change in the future.
Cassidy does look to the other dogs for guidance. She will need a dog friend in her forever home. She would do best with a dog her size, 45 pounds or bigger. She can play rough with smaller animals and could hurt them. She needs to have a cat free home.

Cassidy had her spay surgery last week and everything is healing up nicely! She is healthy and ready to find her forever home. If you have the right home for Cassidy and would like to meet her, please contact your placement advisor or fill out an inquiry for application form.
We would like to thank Rob and Emily Jirak for the Spring Icon! Cassidy is definitely enjoy the Spring weather.

Cassidy has a very high prey drive and cannot be trusted around cats. For this reason, she has come to our home. We don't have cats here and that has helped Cassidy feel comfortable and able to settle into her new foster home.
Cassidy comes from a breeder; we do not know her whole background. Things I have learned about her... she is very friendly and is happy to meet all new people. She may bark at first but still comes up with her tail wagging. She is a small Golden and is at her ideal weight of 45 pounds. She is in good health with the exception of an ear infection. We have medication to take care of that. She is up to date on her shots and will get her spay surgery on May 11th .

Cassidy has a very sweet personality. She gets along great with our two resident dogs. She also has a love for a tennis ball and is learning how to play fetch.
She will need some work with walking on a leash. She does have some fear of that - we will continue to work with her. We have tried the Gentle Leader and that seems to be what is working best for her. It is a work in progress.
