In addition to LOVE this dog has the following requirements:

December 23, 2013  Not required  yes! 8+   Recommended unknown
This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Sampson joined our crew on 12/23.  He is ADORABLE!!!!  Unfortunately, he was found abandoned in a ditch so not much is known about his life prior to entering RAGOM via a good Samaritan.  Although it is just a guess, he appears to have some Lab and Husky in him.  Just a beautiful little blonde puff ball!  Puppy kisses accompany some really good puppy breath, too.   He is believed to be ~12 weeks old.

He is going through all of the typical puppy stuff - chewing, potty training, rough housing with our resident youngster and kennel training.  Not really a Velcro pup but does like to know you are there for him.  As he gets more used to us, he is coming up and asking to be picked up for a cuddle.  When he makes a break from the area you are in, it is a dead giveaway that he needs to go outside.  No accidents in his kennel at all!  Has learned that the kennel is his quiet place for naps and is doing quite well going in there.  We did try to have him sleep in bed with us as our other puppies have, but he seemed to think it was play time.  If he fusses a little, the kennel is right by my bed side so just put a few fingers inside so he knows am there and he settles right down.  Still not able to make it through the night without a potty break, but is very good about letting you know he needs one and then goes back to sleep.

Think he would thrive in a house that has a younger dog that still enjoys playing.  He is very attached to our other dogs and is learning a lot from them.  Seems to want to spend more time with them than us.  Our residents are teaching him to stay in the yard as they learned.  Working on his play biting as it can be a little rough at times so would do better with older children.

Loves to run and play in the yard even in this bitterly cold weather.   Is doing really well with the routine we have for him.  Has caught on quickly on when to play, eat and sleep.  Doing well on car rides, with baby cries if need to go potty.  Knows sit well and is learning to come on command.  No sign of food or toy aggression.

He just began shots on 12/20 so working with our vet to get him UTD and then scheduled to be neutered.

Sampson has a new home and a new name. He will be called Chance by his new family. Was told of his name change due to the 2nd Chance RAGOM and the volunteers have given him on his way to his new life. Congratulations to the S Family and enjoy him as much as we have during his time with us as his foster home.

What a difference a week can make!  Sampson has bonded well with all of the humans and has learned his pecking order with his fur brothers.  The first week when he met other folks, he was quite reserved.  However he has blossomed!!!  We hosted a large and loud New Year's party and he warmed up to everyone, of course picking his favorites.  He LOVED the kids; there was one little gal he followed whenever he got the chance.  We kept his break schedule and he slept in his kennel as needed right in the middle of the chaos.

Although still not a Velcro dog, snuggle time is definitely a priority for Sampson.  After he eats and right before bed are his favorites.  Has started to randomly come up and ask for additional time.  When he is tired, but not in cuddle mode, he just lays down on my foot for a quick snooze.  Am guessing it took him a while to trust humans again as the last time he did he landed in a ditch with no one to care for him.  The one area I still see the impact of that experience is when we put him in his kennel and he can't see us or his brother isn't next to him.  When we are in the room, he goes in right away and lays down for his naps without a peep.

He is growing up quickly!  I swear you can see him grow in height.  He has also gotten to know what "no bites"  mean and is doing really well with that.  In the last few days he has started sleeping 7 1/2 - 9 hours at night and has gone to the door to go outside several times.  Yeah!!!  Still has never had an accident in his kennel.

Although his favorite toy is our youngest resident dog, he is really enjoying legitimate toys.  He will go get each one and put them into a pile on the big dog bed.  It is so adorable!!!   He has a great sense of humor as he hides from his foster brother on a shelf and then springs out at the most appropriate time.

His next shots are scheduled for Jan. 17, which will include rabies.  Will then be able to look at a date for his neutering.

If you are looking for a sweet, happy go-lucky friend for life, Sampson is the little man you need!!!!
