Charles is a warm hearted, playful PB Yellow Lab. He and his littermate have been with us since late August but his littermate, Harry, has already gone to his forever home. Through no fault of his own, Charles had an adoption-in-progress fall through due to a family matter with the family. We love having him stay longer but still needs his forever home.
Charles keeps busy playing gleefully with our two resident dogs. He plays “zoomies” in the back yard with our Flat Coated Retriever and he plays dig-for-the-moles with our older Golden. He’s happy to be playing with just about anyone and has LOTS of kisses to share. He is even happy to wake up resident dogs from peaceful naps. Charles believes he is a lap dog and plunks himself in your lap whether you are ready or not!
Charles does very well in the crate and is almost completely house trained. He is in the crate at night and during daytime hours when no one is home. His first stop out of the crate is the back door to relieve himself and he has started to go to the back door to tell us when he needs to go out. Even at 16 weeks, he has earned free roam of the family room, laundry room and kitchen, and does well with those boundaries. Two caveats there: 1) The baby gates have a lot to do with him going beyond those rooms and 2) Free roam does not coincide with unattended. He’s allowed out and takes many naps at my feet, but he always does “puppy things” like move shoes into the family room from the mud room, one by one. Luckily, there has been no chomping on my $150 running shoes!
