Here is a big, beautiful boy named Charley. He is an 8-year-old golden mix. He is definitely mixed with some sort of very large breed as he is a big-boned dog with a large, blocky head and very big feet.

Charley had his first vet visit last week. He weighs about 78 lbs. and is now up-to-date on his vaccinations and his heartworm test was negative. He does have entropion in his left eye. It's on the bad side so his eye drains tears all the time. We do have an appointment for the eye specialist in a couple of weeks. The previous owner said Charley had his right eye repaired for the same thing a few years ago.

Charley's seems to be more used to a man because he instantly attached to my husband and follows him everywhere. If my husband is not in sight, Charley goes looking for him. If he goes outside, Charley gives a little bark at the door and eventually lays down right by the door and waits.

Charley is a mellow guy. He loves to fetch but doesn't always bring the ball back. He also pulls quite hard on a leash so he is learning to walk with a Gentle Leader. He is fine with cats and doesn't mind our resident dogs. He seems to listen well in the house. He hasn't counter surfed or chewed on anything. He just loves to hang out with his people. More to come as we get to know him better.

Charley is the Great Defender of the back yard. He keeps those pesky squirrels out of the bird feeders as best he can. He will zero in on them and stand like a statue before he blasts off to let them know they are not allowed in the yard. For a big dog, he moves very fast. He will stand under the trees trying to find them as they scamper through the branches in their escape of the big, bad dog.

Charley has been a great dog to have around. He listens well, unless a squirrel is around, and loves his walks. He has gotten the hang of the Gentle Leader and walks nicely on the leash. Since it's been so hot, we have been going for 2 short walks a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. For an 8-year-old dog he still has a fair amount of energy so exercise is important for him.

Charley's eye has been so much better since his surgery. No more pawing or rubbing on the ground. He has such beautiful, golden eyes too. It's nice to see that since his surgery that eye isn't so sunken back in his head.

If anyone would love to have a great companion who loves to be with his people, go on car rides, walks, and take naps by your feet, Charley is your guy. Please let us know if you would like to meet Charley.

Hi to everyone from our big boy Charley! Charley has some great news - he has gotten the entropion in his left eye fixed. I am so happy about that because it was clearly bothering him quite a bit. He was a cone-head for a few days but after leaving the cone off for a bit just to give him a break, and also our bodies, furniture and walls, he showed me he wasn't going to bother his eye. It is healing great. We have to visit the vet this coming Wednesday to get his stitches out. I know he is feeling so much better not having his eyelashes scraping his eye all the time. If you would like to help with Charley's eye surgery, we would be very grateful.

Charley loves, loves, loves to be outside. The last couple of days I have had to make him come in because it is just too hot and humid out for man or beast. As the photo shows, he found a nice cool spot under a tree to take a little nap.

Charley has been doing great on the Gentle Leader. I take all three dogs on our walks and they walk along with me with no pulling. Since we have a dog that is older and can't go very far, we have been going for a couple of short walks a day. Charley needs more exercise than that so we play fetch in the yard with him as long as the temps aren't too hot for him.

Charley is a great dog and quite the character! He is a talker in the mornings when I get up and also when I get the leashes out for our walks. It's not a bark, but it's almost like he is singing. Anyone who adopts him will be a very lucky family. If you are interested in Charley please let RAGOM know.
